Beach Republic has a great chef, and is quite a cool place to hang out. I believe they have live bands perform there at the weekends too, but honestly two months in Koh Samui is too long unless you just want to relax by the pool or beach and read or even write a few books!! Koh Samui is a lovely island, but truly in terms of geography, variety etc., simply not a patch on Phuket/Phang Na. I'd suggest strongly a month in Koh Samui and then go over to the Andaman Sea. If you surveyed everybody with a wide knowledge of both, they'd all say the same.

Thanks hongkongr,will try that out. We are based in koh samui just wondering what islands are best to visit were up for seeing lotsof different places not just staying here,cheers. | | | |

2 months is long enough to enjoy a lot of Thailand and potentially other countries such as Vietnam and Malaysia as well. Depends how much travelling you want to do. Koh Tao is the quietest of three east coast islands, Samui the most touristy. I'd personally recommend trying the west coast as well, Phuket and Phi Phi. I loved Phi Phi when I was there but it is also very touristy and dominated by backpacker types.
You can't really go wrong in SE Asia, there is so much choice. If you can, get to Vietnam. A really wonderful country and not as spoilt as parts of Thailand. Nha Trang, Hoi An, Hai Van Pass, and Halong Bay in particular worth visiting as well as the two main cities and Sapa, although Sapa is quite a trek.

Agree with all of that re Vietnam. Awesome country though it's hard travelling it.
As you're in that "neck of the woods" I'd have to strongly recomend a trip to Angkor Wat in Cambodia. Just an absolutely amazing place to visit. Probably the most impressive place I've ever visited. Total "WOW" factor, more so even than Machu Picchu, imo. [Post edited 6 Jul 2014 3:57]

I highly recommend you visit the jungle club, it's in the hills overlooking Chaweng beach and is a fantastic place to stay or just visit for a meal.

Run by a Thai guy and his French wife, they are lovely people and very helpful. You can't get up there without 4wd vehicle but they come down the hill and pick you up in their jeep if you give them a call. |  | | |

Spent 2 months travelling in SE Asia a while back as part of a 1yr trip around the world and we managed to see large parts of Thailand, Laos, Vietnam and Cambodia in those 2 months (Vietnam being the highlight IMO) | | | |
