ITV last night, anyone watch it?
Without spitting venom at the mere mention of his name... what did you think? I thought it was very entertaining.
Neil Ruddock looks a bit of a lost cause though I'm afraid. Interesting to see how quickly sports people decline as they retire and hit middle age. The 80 to 90s footballer, their lifestyle probably hasn't changed that much but without the training, you're suddenly a fat bast*ard.

usually you would think that people who were professional athletes would age better than the rest of us, but in their case they look far older than their years.

I said the other week I wouldn’t watch it, but i watched last night out of curiosity, I didn’t see last years so didn’t have a clue what it was about, I reckon Ruddock will be dead long before his time. What about seaman getting all precious over playing the naked team! |  |

really enjoyed it, Paul Merson was so good on it and amazing to see how far he has come in the last year. Also thought Seaman was quite funny in it when the nudist team turned up. Tonight's is also very good, Lee Hendrie speaks about his problems which is quite shocking |  | | |

Yes I have the upmost respect for someone who knows their faults and weaknesses and had the ability to get up and try to sort themselves out. He seems like a top man.
I saw Ruddock once in 2007ish at Temple Bar outside a pub with a pint of Guinness on the go having it large with the tourists. He seems a people pleaser, loves the attention and the banter and it covers his obvious weaknesses by making a joke of it all. It really is quite sad to see as Merson was alluding to.
Probably the last generation of footballers with that kind of character. You can see in the younger ones amongst them like Owen that by comparison, their personalities are quite dull. Can't imagine in 20 odd years time there will be a similar documentary with the current crop of England stars. That's not to say it's a bad thing of course as obviously professional football has moved on a hell of a lot. | | | |

I saw last years programme and really enjoyed it, so was less shocked - I don't suppose all footballers lose alltheir fitness and stamina etc, but I was a bit surprised at Michael Owen.
It seemed a shame some of them having got into a better place for the first series had simply stopped and carried on as they were.
Merson seems an exception and you can only wish him well on his ongoing battles with the bottle and the gigi's.
In terms of Neil Ruddock I have to say I wasn't sure that that they should really have taken him on the 2nd series as it seemed a good way to "encourage" the old school boys on tour thing which clearly is not really where he needs to be.
Merson was right about how they treated Ruddocks drinking and eating whereas they simply wouldn't have bought Merson a drink, Wright did acknowledge the problem but didn't really do much about it.
Overall I enjoyed the programme though and will watch the 2nd episode tonight. |  | | |
