I was there for 'work' pretty much a year ago. I don't think you can go wrong with bars as they like their beer there - but definitely try local delicacy lonkero (long drink). Try it with an open mind as it's a gin/grapefruit mix. I tried it and am a full convert.
In terms of specific bars, I wholly recommend Helsinki Bryggeri Brewhouse down by the port. Great locally brewed beers and I can attest the burgers are delicious.
I didn't have much spare time for sightseeing but enjoyed taking a dip in the open water spa in the harbour. Sit in the sauna for as long as you possibly can then take a dip direct in the Baltic Sea. Honestly, you'll feel great. |  |

I went some years ago but the 'Lappi Ravintola' restaurant was excellent and very authentic. We also visited the Sibelius Monument which was pretty cool.

If you’re really restless you could nip over to Tallinn for the day on the hydrofoil (about 90 minutes). Fascinating place in its own right but most Finns are only there for the beer, they were in a shocking state on the ferry back in the middle of the afternoon, dread to think what they’re like by nighttime. |  | | |

Went there for 3 nights last summer and thought it was a great city to visit. We picked up a walking tour map from tourist information and followed a route round the city centre, cathedral and harbour front. Took a short boat ride out to the island of Suomenlina which is an old fortress island. If I remember correctly the boat ticket is included in with day tickets for the trams.
Loads of bars and restaurants. We had a great lunch at Allas restaurant and the top of it is an open air bar overlooking the harbour:

There's also loads of street food stalls along the harbour front (called Kauppatori) if you fancy grabbing something quick and easy.

The Olympic Stadium is worth a visit - if you like that sort of thing - and although it has been renovated since my visit, I'm sure they've preserved the distinctive 1930's architecture:
It also houses the Finnish Museum of Sport, whose entire Football Section might be entitled Jari Litmanen - This Is Your Life! (though maybe Pukki gets a bit part now):

And the whole complex is located in a nice big park, of which Helsinki has many, often surprisingly accessible from/close to the city centre.

Not me, but if anyone is interested in Athletics, then they should check out "The Flying Finn" Paavo Nurmi, who imo was the greatest middle/long distance/X Country runner of all time:

The stadium's still the same. It's worth a trip up the massive column in a tiny lift if you're able. Not sure if it's open to the public though | |
