What’s (still) Wrong with Willock? 09:52 - Oct 26 with 1628 viewsEastR

The ongoing Willock saga seems to have gone under the radar in the past few weeks as the team continues to tank, and the pressure increases on the manager.

It seems increasingly odd that he’s not being utilised beyond 10 mins from the bench. Ongoing injury issues? Ongoing fall out issues? Ongoing can’t be ars3d issues?

Will the old Willock be resurrected with a change of manager?

nah, another wastrel brought in, and allowed to develop a CBA attitude, that has spread like cancer within the team.

He doesn't want to be here and is just running his contract down so he can get a free transfer

I think he will be shocked what sort of club picks him up though

Look at what the midfielders were asked to do on Tuesday and you can see how there's a conflict between Ainsworth and Willock. I actually Dion't think it would make a blind bit of difference if he were in form, fit and on the pitch in that sort of shape and plan. The only thing he'd be asked to do is sit behind the ball in a four man midfield. It actually makes more sense to put a defensive midfielder on the wing.

Others have suggested a lineup of Chair, Willock and Dykes as a front three. I just can't see that happening with Ainsworth at the helm. He picks 11 defenders and Willock is seemingly unwilling or unable to do it.

He needs a run of games in a job that suits his skillset - running at defences, going past men, creating chances - and I can't see how that can ever happen with Ainsworth, he won't sacrifice the 9th or 10th defender.

Exactly - Willock could be at the top of his game and under these tactics it would drive him into the ground.

Joe Willock returned to Newcastle team last night after 5 months out with a Hamstring injury (if I heard right),

Chris Willock was'nt given this amount of time to recover from his Hamstring injury, seemed to be rushed back and pulled up after his first sprint in that 1st game back clutching his Hamstring,

Brothers with similar physiology may be prone to this injury and may need proper recovery time,

For a player to go to Portugal to further his career and build himself up physically to be one of the outstanding players in the Championship first half of last season, he just does'nt strike me as a wrong'un,

One things for sure, he carried that team for the 1st Half of last season, cost very little in fee and wages, and yet fans have turned on him so quickly, compared to others he probably mugged us off (eg Austin & Gray), don't get it.

I no longer care about him,let him rot his attitude stinks he hasn't been relevant for over a year now.

It's not tactics there's been about four managers since he last had a good game in fact it's been four managers since any of them played well in back to back games.

Surely he already has a deal in place with a club hence the attitude and body language, his dad is his agent, if my son went to work and behaved like that I would be embarrassed.

Don’t get me started on Taylor Richards.

Well he seemed very happy at the end of the West Brom laughing and joking with the Baggies players. Seemed to not have a care in the world .

That’s my point, is he acting like a player who is unsure of his next move or if his career as a footballer is in the balance? No, he’s acting like a player who has been told to ride out this season doing the bare minimum and next season he will have a new club and a bigger salary. His next move is already agreed, he will join them for free and he gets a better deal, the only losers are us.

I’d stick him in with the joeys who lose 9-0 every week.
