A cautionary tale. 12:52 - Jan 23 with 2735 viewswelwynranger

Leaving HQ on Saturday walking past the Springbok to the sound of Hi Ho Silver Lining , everybody smiling and hugging friends.
Similar scenario to the Watford game last season.
3 days later we went to Blackpool then lost 5 of the next 6 games and drawing the other one..
Saturday was great but it was only one game against a very poor team.as bad as Watford were last season.
It could have been a huge confidence booster but I have seen too much football in my 60yrs supporting this team to not take it game by game.

Sorry I'm only saying is alll

I don't think anyone is getting that carried away mate.
Just nice to have a win. We played better the week before and got nothing.

Same players - so yeah, don't expect too much.

Even a stopped clock tells the right time twice a day, etc.

Poll: How old is everyone on here?

Marti is gradually improving us individually and collectively. It is though, often a case of step forward followed by step back, as evidenced by the first 25 minutes or so last Saturday. Which way will the next step be?

I am slightly reassured that the Saturday to Sunday recovery period is helpful with our wafer thin squad.,
What is concerning, is that other teams are strengthening and we don't appear to be.
We will find Easter and the three game weeks really challenging.

Are other teams strengthening?

They may be signing players, but that doesn't guarentee that this will improve them. I'm far from convinced that Huddersfield will have improved this January.

Being able to field our best side is my biggest concern, but I'm not sure that we could sign anyone that would make the starting eleven. That is due to player availability rather than new players not being better than what we currently have!

It is the quality of the players that are below our top 15 that may be out biggest worry.

Yes, it's the Bench we need to improve. Probably at a very low outlay too.

I am under no illusions that the players will bottle it bs Hudderfield. But also we've won like 3 homes in 2 years. It's important to savour any joy we get otherwise what's the point?

Exactly. We have won a pitiful 3 home games in the last 19. Big ask for this mob to win two in a row. Even if we do win Sunday, time will tell if the four guys Huddersfield have brought in so far this month will impact their performances and results in the run in.
