Met players and Marti 10:51 - Feb 18 with 4850 views

By chance I was staying at same hotel on 16th of February as QPR team.Had picture taken with a good number of the players and spoke to 3 of 4 of them.But best of all was a chat with Marti. He was pleased to meet a long time QPR fan.It was an amazing experience.I’am 85 and my first away game was seventy years ago.

First game of the season in 1965 away to Brentford.a few of us young uns ( I was 10) were sitting on the step outsid the Crown waiting for the older ones to take us to the game.
A car pulled up and Rangers goalie Frank Smith asked us if we wanted a lift to the match. We all piled into his car and off we went. On arrival at the Hounslow bus stop ground he said if we wanted a lift back to meet him after the game. We lost 6-1 he had a stinker so we thought it safer to get the 117 bus back home.

He probably had one to park up in White City and another for home use!

I recall reading at the time that he did indeed have an old banger as well that he turned up in at training sometimes.
