I know quite a few on this board dream of having adidas making QPR kits again, like the classic 80's Guinness shirts. But just take a look at this summer's adidas catalogue and see how templated the majority of their new shirts are.
If really annoys me, as it's so lazy! Why not design a different kit for every team, isn't that more 'creative' anyway? Especially when this years 'batwing' template is very dull. Just look at the designs of Southampton, Swansea, Stoke (A), Hull (A) and Bolton to name a few - all the same. While Fulham's new home and Southampton's away are also a different templated design.
From what I've seen it's only West Ham and Chelsea who've got away with it, and surprise, surprise they are the best designs from adidas this year.
I've never been a fan of Lotto until this summer, but I'd take them over a standard design from one of the bigger brands this season. |  |

Kit designers are lazy beasts most of the time. None have been lazier than Lotto, although to be fair, they have pulled something out of the fire with this last kit and actually put a crumb of thought in.
Every kit should be unique to a team and have tradition somewhere in there. We are tribes and we are unique, all of us, so the change the kit each season with a standard template model crap really shouldn't be tolerated.
The fans need to be consulted on these things as we are the ones who buy the merchandise. Designers need to ask fans and study tradition at clubs, as well as pantone grades of colours, and not just go and change them when they feel like it.
I also think we should all only change kits every other season, if the division doesn't change or the sponsor doesn't change. Particularly in this economy. I also think clubs should come up with more creative T shirt and sweat shirt options, rather than just replica kits that bear the club's distinctive design. Make that more affordable. |  |
