Sunday's referee on 14:52 - Mar 9 with 646 views | PinnerPaul | Would be interesting to see if newly promoted or 'up and coming' referees give out more cards than the 'norm' If they do I could understand why 1) Less confident of managing the higher level games without cards. 2) Scared of 'missing' a mandatory one and getting marked down by the observer. The Blackpool 'goal' not his fault as impossible to tell from his position exactly where the ball was when it was played by the 'offside' Blackpool player - down to the AR that one, but really difficult to see in real time.

Refereeing for the assessor - hence, rapid promotion.

That's not far wrong Clive - applies to all levels as well judging by the number of posts on that very subject on RefChat.

And in a game like Luton away... I really have a sense of deja vu here.

I've flagged this before but Halsey spoke about it very frankly on Nedum's podcast. Was told if he didn't start doing a, b and c, all of which he hated, he wouldn't go anywhere. Makes you wonder who exactly we're refereeing for here?

Sunday's referee on 15:30 - Mar 9 with 565 views | PinnerPaul | We all love a Ref moan but not really that different in most walks of life - new job/promotion - you don't go in day one, looking for ways to cut corners or ignoring the rules/procedures. Once you get settled/reach your ceiling you can start doing things more your own way - in refereeing terms, Mike Dean a great example of that!!!!!!!!
