Disturbing reading. 11:19 - Oct 27 with 3135 views

I don't know how many of you are avid readers but I have just begun reading Tom Bowers book Broken Dreams after a recommendation from Michael who sells AKTURS outside the ground and even after the first chapter you just know that all you will find is confirmation of just how bent those who run football are. A chastening read and a real antithesis to Nick Hornby's fan tributes.

I read it when it came out and thought 'how long will it be before a football manager sues the author for defamation/libel?'. Some 15 years later no one has even attempted to sue which tells you that the allegations are true. And I reckon the corruption is more widespread today than it ever was.

That's the impression I am forming as I get into the book. Not one law suit against the author; he must have some rock solid, damning proof to go with his accusations. To your second point, we still have Shaun Harvey so you are most probably right.

After you've read it, read FOUL ! by Andrew Jennings, the bloke that brought down first the IOC then got his claws into FIFA. He was reporting corruption by Jack Warner and Sepp Blatter over a decade ago and was vilified by all and sundry from football fans, pundits, players etc. Then when Blatter was finally exposed all those that gave Jennings stick suddenly wanted to be his best mate.

I’ve just ordered both books on Amazon for £6.30. Obviously used, but very good condition.
