Can someone explain Apple TV to me please... 08:01 - May 6 with 377 viewsBlackCrowe

Is it simply a device that means you can watch stuff from your mac on your TV screen?

If that's the case, does that mean i can watch streams like 'liveonlinefooty.com' on my TV?

Poll: Kitchen threads or polls?

I like mine and use it mostly, as you said, for watching Itunes movies/tv on my TV.

I know you can watch movies from the net (forgot the site), and Utube but don't think you could watch a live stream of a footy match on the net. I think you'd need one of those HMTD (?) cables to connect your computer to the tv

Thanks both - just bought a new tv and its has a purpose built bit at the back to slot in and connect apple tv box and then it reads it, so wondered if this might help me out with watch streams on tv.

Yeah as said above i think you can get a cable and run it from yer mac or PC to the telly and it mirrors the screen so you can watch it that way

Yeah you'll need hdmi cable or svg, but imagine a new tv won't have the svg port.

Once you get connected though NetFlix looks good though I haven't tried it, just be mindful you don't fall foul of any fair usage scheme on your ISP (downloading or streaming more data than your provider allows).

The apple TV box links your computer wirelessly to the TV. The apple TV does not have full web browsing facilities i.e. there is only certain content you can stream (via the laptop to the Apple TV device).

It will allow you to watch youtube amongst other things http://www.apple.com/appletv/whats-on/

Good for parties and showing off basically. Stream you own iTunes library, pics etc.

It also allows you to listen to a plethora of radio stations which is grateful when living in the Middle East listening to R&B every minute.

I think this is what you want

http://www.google.com/tv/features.html

It has a browser in it, so i guess you could come on this website then get links to streams etc of just go straight to your preferred streaming website. Not entirely sure how all this stuff works tbh but i have connected my laptop to the tv before via hdmi and found it to be disappointing.
