Weekend Diary — Warnock calls time on Ephraim and Agyemang
at 23:53:07

I think Ephraim looked a little out of his depth against Everton and weakened the team when he came on. Can't fault his attitude and work-rate though. According to this interview with Warnock, it's Ephraims lack of pace that's the problem: http://www.london24.com/sport/championship/qpr_2_5433/qpr_boss_warnock_challenge . I don't think he's a particularly good passer of the ball and he seems to be easily robbed. Pity.

Window of opportunity? Or summer of discontent? Every club assessed

"In: David De Gea (Atletico Madrid, £17.8m)" - Ha ha.

The players we brought in - they have salary deductions written into their contracts in case we're relegated, n'est pas?

Thanks for an entertaining and informative read Clive. Still weird that we're not discussing Doncaster and Ipswich.

Great read thanks Clive.

Nice to see Shamrock Rovers get into the group stages of the Europa Cup with Magilton as assistant manager. This is highlights of the 2-4 win against Derby, one of my favorite QPR wins ever:

Bolton hand QPR reality check — full match report
at 18:44:24

Clive, thanks. Typically readable and spin free report.

The only slight positive I can think of with this result is that it will lower people's expectations.

@rontheranger "No idea why Warnock thinks we can play 4-2-3-1 in this league." "2) We go 4-4-2 (DJ and Boothroyd upfront) " - I don't agree that the formation is the problem, but I do agree that the quality of the players and the lack of pace is key.

The evidence is there that the club got it's pricing wrong. If QPR want to be a Premier League team we're going to need a bigger stadium and cheaper tickets. It's clearly the prices that kept people away. That said, it is August and people are off on holidays and what not.

Hopefully Briatore is gone as and from tomorrow. I'd suffer Paladini before Briatore.

LFW Awards — Players, pubs, predictions and the odd rant

I pity fans of other clubs who don't have such entertaining reports and previews to read. I often laugh out loud when reading them. It's my favorite forum too.

I just checked out the highlights of that QPR 4-0 Swansea again after reading this. What a game.

A night where it all went right for rampant Rangers — full match report
at 16:41:03

"There was a kiss for the Sky camera in celebration, but no feral outpouring of profanities as I believe is the fashion these days."

He he. I actually had the misfortune to be at the West Ham v Man Utd match. I couldn't believe how dirty a player Rooney is.. elbows in people's backs, theatrical diving for the ref, making gestures to the home fans after scoring a goal. That said, West Ham were muck and deserve to go down.

I tell you this because I had booked flights for the QPR v Sheff Utd match which was moved to Monday so we were at a loose end on Saturday in London. Ouch.

Great read as usual. I think Chris Hughton is better than League 1. Sounds like it was an immense game. The bit I saw on the interweb looked great.

Monday Diary — Mackie and Miller look ahead
at 20:55:30

Very true Charlie. Don't want to count the old chickens, but I think he'd be better for us than Doyle, especially if we're playing our current system. Although both would be good too.

Thanks Clive - good read.

"Hart said: “...What gives us hope is to come to a place like Brighton and play them at their own game.”"

What's that, building sand castles?

Thursday Diary — Warnock eyeing target, Leeds eyeing tickets
at 03:19:55

Presume this is the end for Gavin Mahon and QPR? We had him on a one month contract and now he's gone on loan for about two months. Not sure what the logic is there. Anyway, a very good player for QPR. Put in some great midfield performances I remember and our form deteriorated badly after he got injured late in Jim Magilton's tumultous quasi-reign. Hope you help Palarse stay up as they're not the worst really.

This Week — QPR’s Riquelme deserves everything that’s coming to him
at 00:05:29

Excellent write up. He's a legend. The beauty of him is he can pick out amazing passes like the one to Routledge at Coventry in January and get goals, but he can also dribble past players. Although I can see a case for all the players you mentioned, especially Faurlin who is probably our best and most consistent passer of the ball, Taarabt is the player of the year for me.

How do you think he will do in the Premier League? Is it possible he might get more time on the ball as Premier League defenders might not double-man-mark him as much?

Monday Diary — R’s shrug off charges to extend lead
at 23:41:38

Thanks Clive. Good read as ever. It might have been mentioned on the forum but worth mentioning here that David McIntyre has writtten a very good recap of the latest fiasco and name-checked yourself: http://davidmcintyre.wordpress.com/2011/03/13/quite-a-week/.

Re: Troy Hewitt, normally I would question the wisdom of signing a non league player when preparing for the Premier League, but Warnock has proved me wrong so far with most of his signings so I'm looking forward to seeing how him play. He offers something different as a striker to what we've already got and allows us to go all 4-4-2 on teams when they're down to 9 men, on the ropes etc. Something like that anyway.

Wednesday Diary — Orr laments Walker loss, Forest lose crucial game in hand,
at 13:07:19

Dikgacoi - my god, best name ever. I am in awe.

Re Notts Forrest, I think one of the factors in the shock result the other night was playing for so long against QPR with 10 men. Especially with it being such a rear guard action. It might have tired them a bit. I think something similiar might have happened to us after winning at Reading. I think we might have been that bit leaden footed against 10 man Forrest.

If we can get a win tomorrow it will be big psychologically. The chasing pack will be sick.

Tuesday Diary — Borrowdale moves, Sheff Utd switched, Moen praised
at 14:12:17

Somerset - thanks a lot. I'm actually just going over and back on the Saturday though. The people I'll be with both support clubs not playing in London on that day, but I'm sure we'll find something to do.

It definitely seems like you can't plan trips in advance unlike previous years. The chopping and changing due to being top of the league is a bit of a drag. Good that the team can cope with it though and aren't dropping points. Plus, as French says, we get to see them on the telly more often.

Myke - I got the tickets quite cheap on Aer Lingus' last sale. €75 return to Heathrow. Worth keeping an eye on their site if you can get a babysitter/the mother-in-law sorted.

Monday Diary - Warnock pleased with point, Taarabt threatens Morocco withdrawal
at 19:05:11

I think if you had offered the play-offs at the start of the season, most fans would have bitten your hand off, or at least would have given it a good sniff. We finished in the lower half of the table last year and took some risks in the transfer market in the summer, some of which have worked and the team gelled surprisingly fast. Plus we've had the same manager for ages now.

Taarabt had a poor game, but overall I feel we played quite well against B.C. and he's important in terms of providing an extra dimension. Once he went off, we started hoofing it up to Dave a bit whereas when he was on the pitch he was Faurlin's main target. People seem to be more inclined to focus on his mistakes than his successes - he actually didn't give away possession too much and was one of the few to get shots on target. People possibly focus on the negatives because he promises/talks himself up so much. Buzsáky is a good player, but he doesn't take on defenders as well as Taarabt (sometimes) does - still though it would be good to have him on the bench and it's a pity he's injured and playing cards with Fitz.

Dave’s super-sub act cancels out Stead’s blockbuster — full match report
at 11:37:52

Excellent report as usual Clive and some very good points.

I can't help but think the shadow of Briatore's brainless Lippi joke (assuming it was a joke) hung over our performance like a dull pallor. I think we could have started with Smith and possibly given Mackie a rest - he seems very quick to get frustrated and his finishing is not great at the moment.

Some respect is due to Dave also - he positioned himself really well for the goal and that's two very important goals he's gotten for us this season. Not for one minute suggesting he starts though.

City have some decent players. Rose was particularly good thoughout.

Overall, it was an enjoyable end-to-end game and I think a draw is a fair enough result.

Old problem for award winning QPR against the New Firm — full match preview

Excellent read, thanks Clive.

"Two days later the R’s lost 3-1 at Watford live on Sky and after the match the fateful dressing room incident between Jim Magilton and Akos Buzsaky brought things to a head".

I think "brought things to a headbutt" would have worked there also.
