Austin beats QPR’s path to Wembley Way — report
at 23:52:55

"When Rob Kiernan, pressed into emergency service as a centre forward having started the night in a back three, let go with a speculative effort from 25 yards there seemed little danger. Then the ball hit Richard Dunne. The deflection was profound. It took all the pace off the ball and bent it into a curl that seemed to defy the laws of physics, past everybody in the penalty box who watched with the rest of us, past Robert Green who’d already committed himself to his left and could only pray with the rest of us that whichever God has been f-cking QPR over for the last 20 years had decided that tonight, for five seconds, they deserved a break. The ball flew three millimetres past the post. For a moment, Loftus Road fell completely silent."

What a crazy, crazy moment that was. Fantastic read as always.

In form City approach under the radar — opposition focus
at 23:28:25

"The Champions League again proved beyond them, but given that they pulled Borussia Dortmund, Ajax and Real Madrid I’m not convinced that as big a story or surprise as people made out. I went to the Dortmund Ajax game in Amsterdam and the quality was absolutely exceptional, quite out of the ordinary, so it’s no disgrace or crisis for City not to be able to compete at that stage just yet however much money they’ve spent."

Some reports say they've spent £1 billion since the takeover. Shouldn't matter how good Dortmund are, that money should have bought City better players than the likes of Barry, Garcia and Milner.
