Stan was the best player in the world in the late 70s so much so I proudly wore my QPR kit to our silver Jubilee street party fancy dress competition and when asked who have u come as my reply was a simple…Stan Bowles.

My favourite Rangers manager, took us from the lower end of Division 2 to European football in 3.5 years with an FA cup final and Division 2 championship sandwiched in between. A team built to win and attractive to watch. Great days. Doubt we’ll ever experience such rapid progress again. |

Best bit of fun was after the 0-0 FA cup 3rd round game at Ninian in 1990.
And if I remember rightly, didn't one of theirs run up the pitch giving it large to the Loft after we beat them in the replay. |

Andy Gray, didn't hang around long though did he ? Scored a cracking brace in a night game against ManU ( think it was them and we won 3-2 ? ) before heading back to Palace a few weeks later. |

In no particular order since each of them had differing traits. Roeder, Parker and Maddix.
Hard to believe we had Roeder and Currie in the same team in the equivalent of today's Championship. Night and day compared to 2023. |

Taking our well founded prejudices aside is Beale the answer ?
Lots of evidence on here to suggest maybe not; he did well in parts but it certainly wasn't a wholly convincing tenure. His big mistake was walking within 5 months of semi-establishing himself as a potentially good manager. Nothing more than potential. A 2/3 year stint in the Championship would certainly go a long way to determining whether he was the real deal.
Anyhow, if not GA which seems to be the case and if not MB which doesn't seem to be popular and possibly an idea without any foundation , who can we realistically trust with turning us around ? Dammed if I know. |
