Departures in the development squad

Me too, a few words out of respect for our not quite good enough fallen soldiers who've at least tried to make it, fine by me. The moment he doesn't drop a comment will now be telling.

... are now a bit of a circus act worthy of a reality TV show, like some kind of WWE pantomime with each player proudly showcasing their pre-rehearsed, choreographed routine. Its like they all have one.

What happened to the days when a simple handshake and a quick jog back to the halfway line sufficed?

The lad bagged 6 goals in 17 games from right/left back. Not bad for first stint in mens football. Yet not given a chance at QPR with Drewe ahead of him, I haven't seen enough of him to judge but perhaps too little too late (tho still 21)? Hope we didn't drop the ball on this one

Yeah, i imagine half the youth contracts given out are just to make up the numbers to field a team for the following yr with the hope of being surprised whilst main focus is pinned on one or two. Or maybe that's being too cynical.

Whenever i saw Micah Anthony i thought he looked decent, scoring a few goals from left wing, still a teenager, but hey i'm sure they know best.

As above, by 19-20 they should have played some mens football as the pace & physicality of that Dev squad league is a different world.

Transfer rumours 2024

I understand he had a long layoff after his national league spell which he did well by all accounts. So another yr on a low wage to see how he can further develop.. yeah why not

Isn't Gillingham's centre back paring Masterson & Ehmer, another ex R..

I find it intriguing that a guy who was probably the best player in his school by far, coached by a pro team since age of 8, could turn up at a 5-a side game and tear most to shreds, is then so far off what it takes for championship /L1 club.

Goes to show the levels to this game and how good the top players really are. At his age he needs real game experience, good luck to him.

Now what…?
at 11:28 5 May 2024

With the season slog now done we can relax, recover and speculate with renewed hope for next season. Football wise us fans have the Euros till mid July, by which time the R’s will be back pre-season and the cycle starts again.

For the players, I suppose they’ll get some kind of off-season plan to not come back totally out of shape + I know a lot do their own individual work football wise. Either way it’s a decent 8-10 week break for them.

How will you guys be spending the off season, I partly enjoy the emotional break from all things R’s, especially this season, but come August ready to go through it all again.

Do you guys ever feel its just part of the club cycle, what will be will be, and there'll always be a another season, and another after that (as long as we don't do a Bury).

I remember at the deepest lows of that league 1 era battered at home to Cardiff after recently Vauxhall Motors, club was dead rangers were gone, finished.. ended the season in the playoff final, promoted next and we were in the prem within 8 yrs.

Decent strategy, picking off the PL cast offs with a point to prove.

Great goal from the left winger, is that a trialist?

Premier League spending cap
at 08:37 30 Apr 2024

I sometimes think if a team like us were to have a barnstorming season and get promoted, why not just pocket the £100m with minimal player spend or hoover up some young potential, pay off all debts / build a new stadium, invest in academy etc.

It'll be over by Christmas but longevity surely secure ready for another go.
