Fair play to anyone who went today, and we’ll done Rs! Type of fixture you’d expect the team to have been mentally on the beach for.

A crappy season: put it to bed and forget about. Happy summer one and all.

Put it to the people Amit, a Rseferendum is what we need to sort the latest managexit out once and for all.

I genuinely cannot think of one bloke who’s good enough, strong enough and mad enough to take up the poisoned chalice down at the Big Top. Huge decision and if we get it wrong, next season will be a disaster!!

Asian Cup Final fred- Qatar v Japan
at 19:13 29 Jan 2019

Having given UAE a shoeing in another’embargo classico’, Qatar find themselves in the final on Friday against Japan. Unless I’m mistaken, both teams have reached the final without conceding a goal along the way!

If you’ve lived here, then you’ll know the words ‘road’ and ‘safety’ are rarely written together. Crazy driving tonight - nearly wiped out just the once tonight; as cars hurtle along with people on roofs.

Should be a good game.

Busy few weeks spent mostly flying between Asia-Greenford-Asia, culminating in relocating to Qatar earlier today.

Sad to learn the commentator Peter Brackley has passed. Always loved listening to him call a game.

I was having a beer with a mate in the station after the 4-4 Port Vale recovery, and he walked in sat down and joined us. We had a good craic with him.

We think we’ve got issues following a succession of idiots in high places at QPR, but we might just be pipped by the SFA.

Two semi-finals (Celtic/Hearts and Rangers/Aberdeen) in Glasgow on the same day! Best bit of the idiocy, there’s currently no trains that would get the Hearts fans into Glasgow before the scheduled k.o. When Scotrail asked if they would run extra trains, they pointed out that they’d not been consulted by the SFA!

Why does football get these a-holes and pay them stupid money at the same time?

Is it the weight of expectation that's hindering us?
at 11:00 26 Sep 2018

We've never got over the burden of winning the League Cup in 1967. I fear, as a club, we peaked too soon as well.

Each year on the nearest Saturday to 4 March, we trot out the glorious gladiators of that heroic win; and no one thinks how much pressure it has placed on every player that has won the B&W since then.

It's buckled many, driven some to drink and ruined the careers of others. It's like the lotto winners who go crazy after winning £100m and within a few years, wished they'd never bought the lotto ticket in the first place.

The club, who regularly stuff the club shop with memorabilia of that magnificent match, merely add to the weight of expectation on our young chaps. How the f..k can we expect a BOS or a Pav to play with the pressure of the Morgan twins breathing down their necks?

I think we all know that was the real reason we froze on a certain day back in 1986: the players struggled with the magnitude of what stood before them, the chance to be presented every year at LR for winning the League Cup.

It's time we did one of two things: either send the replica of the 1967 cup back and renounce our win or, if we're not going to take it seriously, then don't bother entering the thing.

Fair play to Steve and his battling heroes, that’s not just the type of game you’d expect them to lose before the coach goes past Watford, but to capitulate under the oppo’s onslaught at the end.

Well done Rangers...fuchsia kit it is then.

At least we can focus on the cups...
at 06:46 19 Aug 2018

Well, not a great start!

Solely on paper, we had a bloody hard start handed to us and the disappointing result was Sheffield United at home. Despite them being big old units, we could have done with something. To be honest, away against a canny outfit like PNE and a superior resourced WBA, realistically we couldn’t have expected too much.

However, the real question is: what’s the character of the team looked like? Have we fronted up despite it all or, given up soon after the oppo signals an intent to win the thing and fold into Queens Park Strangers?

Stand firm Rfosi.

Amit
at 02:55 16 Aug 2018

When the first rumours of TF's stepping down appeared a few days ago, and someone started a thread of who we'd like to replace him, I posted Amit Bhatia's name in hope.

To be fair, I've been posting about Amit on here and other sites as being the ideal person at the helm for years. Today, I find the Rangoon morning imbued with optimistic news from London: it's like waking up to the feel of a cool breeze through the windows on a bright sunny day...I can't help but feel happy!

In the 4YP he was the only one that seemed to come out of it with any sense of credibility and, dare I say it, common sense. Which, for four to five years after August 2011, was sorely lacking at QPR.

Never met the man, but during my last sojourn in London, one of my neighnours frequently worked with Amit to organise events etc. Though not a football fan, my neighbour was most definitely, an Amit Bhatia fan. He described him as a genuinely 100% decent guy. Who was not above himself to go down into the trenches as it were, to personally thank everyone who'd worked for him. In my book, that really does say a lot about the man compared to some rich folks, who wouldn't give you the steam off their urine.

As for skills, acumen, common sense etc., we know Amit oozes the stuff. My former neighbour - who dealt with many such uber-rich - simply spoke of Amit as having such attributes by the bucket load.

However, this is what is arguably most important to you, my fellow Rfosi. Amit felt that his departure from QPR was untimely, and by all accounts, he was really sad to leave when he did. Describing it as 'unfinished business'.

He was somewhat aghast at the goings on in football - as are we all - but a few years on, with a huge challenge in front of us and, fingers crossed, the right set-up behind us, I suspect this guy will be relishing the task. I can see him bringing not just class and the requisite skills required to the role, but Amit Bhatia can get on with pretty much everyone and be a uniting force not a disuniting one.

I never fell for the bull of 'lessons learned' by the last guy, for clearly they were not! But for the first time in a very, very long time, I actually feel a corner has been turned and notwithstanding the FFP and even our current concerns about the squad, we've got a good looking and more solid foundation to go forward from.

Been saying since January, this is the season we need to worry about and get through. If we do that, I reckon things will improve exponentially. Now is most definitely the time to draw a line in the sand, stop moaning, and get behind QPR.

I know, I know, be careful what you wish for. But what we wish for is more likely to happen with what we have in place now, then what's been in place for some time now.

at 08:26 12 Jul 2018

I don’t do poetry, it’s pretentious bollox! That said, when I first came across ‘If’ as a teenager, I’ve gone through life frequently reading it. It’s the most beautiful piece of prose I know.

It’s just before 2pm in Rangoon. I’v just woken up and I don’t know if I need a shit or a shower. But I do know I’ve the most monstrous hangover, the wife wrote a lovely message and beside me in bed is our cat, who we saved as a kitten. His name is Kipling.

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don’t deal in lies,
Or being hated, don’t give way to hating,
And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise:

If you can dream—and not make dreams your master;
If you can think—and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build ’em up with worn-out tools:

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: ‘Hold on!’

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings—nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,
And—which is more—you’ll be a Man, my son!

So come on then 2018 - what's your plans?
at 12:26 11 Jul 2018

It's a 12:30am kick off for us in Rangoon. Not all places will be open, so four of us have booked a table at the bar in the Novotel. Heading there at 11:30pm - which just seems odd!

When I was a kid and wanted to watch 'Sportsnight' my mum would insist I go to bed for a few hours kip beforehand, and she'd wake me up a few minutes before the program. Tonight, I am going to relive my childhood, and get a few hours in before heading out and ask the wife to wake me up.

Here's hoping she doesn't fall asleep in the living room watching Netflix!!

In each city I’ve lived around Planethonneywood, I’ve always met a fellow Rs fan.

Well into my second year in Rangoon and no sign of one. That was until I got chatting to the manager of my local gym earlier today.

After answers of ‘originally Greenford’ and ‘originally Hammersmith’ were exchanged, subtle asks revealed ‘QPR’.

For a club with a relatively small fan base, we’re bloody well spread!
