Favourite Sporting Heroes From Other Sports
at 00:16 21 Sep 2023

I know there are a few league fans on here. One of my favorite sporting heroes is Kevin Tamati. Probably most renowned for this:

He never took a step backwards and had a glorious mustache.

Reggie Cannon

What sorcery is this? 25, an international player, free ....

On September 9, 2020, FC Dallas announced that they had reached an agreement with Portuguese side Boavista F.C. for the transfer of Cannon in a deal worth up to $3.5 million, along with a 25–50% sell-on fee.

I guess the sell-on fee is null and void

Ashes 2023
at 17:50 19 Jul 2023

Two of the all-time best sledges:

During a one-day match between Australia and Zimbabwe in 1996, McGrath was becoming increasingly frustrated with Brandes’ attempts at the big heave-ho outside off-stump. After several play-and-misses, McGrath looked big Eddo up and politely enquired: “Why are you so fat?” As quick-as-a-flash, Brandes retorted: “Because every time I make love to your wife she gives me a biscuit.”

After playing-and-missing at a number of his deliveries in a county game in England, Thomas sarcastically told Richards: “It’s red, round and weighs about five ounces, in case you were wondering.” Richards proceeded to hit the next ball out of the ground and calmly replied: “You know what it looks like, now you go and find it.”

West London Sport have the following rumor published about Chair:

Hopefully Football Insider is just a click bait site .... Still with the form he has been showing it would not be surprising.

Great read as always Clive. I am not unhappy with the signing of Balogun. For me he brings a lot to the club. Much like Ryan Nelsen did.

Transfer Rumours
at 20:24 2 Sep 2022

I read it that he said that he would only sign people on loan if it improved the first 11. Surely greater competition is good for everyone meaning players have to perform? As I understand it all the people we have loaned we have the right to buy after this season apart from the Aston Villa lad and Laird. Personally I can't see all the fuss about Balogun. For me he is potentially another Ryan Nelsen who can help improve our other defenders.

Wagner was sacked by Young Boys in March. Failed to win them a fourth championship on the trot.

Maybe it could help us get Jamal Lewis who seems to be out of favor at Newcastle.

£25m for Chris Wood?
at 19:18 12 Jan 2022

Whilst I agree Wood is not worth that amount he is still not a bad striker - 50 goals in the EPL in 155 appearances (27 of which were as a sub). Given the great majority were for Burnley in my opinion that's not too bad.

Clive meeting with Lee Hoos
at 16:07 31 Aug 2021

I'd be really interested to hear his thoughts on how QPR were treated under the FFP (a settlement which involved a 42 million pound fine - at least initially) and what other teams are currently getting away with. It seems beyond belief that we got skinned and yet no one else is.

It really is amazing how much grief Dykes gets when you see the recent stats. He was always going to need time to adjust. Quite clearly Warbs, given his post match interview, holds him in very high regard.

Thanks Rsonist. I'm still worried that we might lose 1 or 2. Given the way we have been managed though I'm pretty sure we'll have players in mind as replacements.

Squirrel anybody? Leicester Match thread
at 18:40 2 Aug 2021

Having had the pleasure of watching the game I really am quite amazed at how quickly we have established depth in the club. It really is quite amazing that if we were to lose Dickie or Chair there are others behind them. Moreover recent transfer activity seems to suggest that if someone does go the money we get will be invested wisely. It really is quite a strange state of affairs having such positivity in and around the club ....
