Pubs in Ealing
at 12:32 14 Mar 2024

I live in Ealing, I can see the Red Lion opposite my house from my sofa. Of course the choice depends on what you are after and how impactful the mobility issues are.

Close to Ealing Broadway and easy step free access Brewdog next to the church is good with lots of good beer choice. Right next to it No17 is a more upmarket option, decent though if a good crowd is in.

Closet to the station the North Star is fine, decent beer although small steps on entrance if that is an issue anbd as another poster said normally band on a Saturday. Some decent beer as well.

Further affield Grove is decent. Kings arms is another good option just cut through the shopping centre from teh station, feels more like a simple pub. Has a pool table as well in the back room if that is your thing.

Enjoy

Thank you, Clive!
at 12:49 27 Oct 2023

Lovely post. My two boys 17 and 14 are hooked, started going to away games as well now. They get how supporting a team like QPR is different to what most of their mates do (never go, means next to nothing).

Completely echo the comments on Clive and this website. I can only imagine how many hours it must involve. Brilliant writing, hilarious, insightful and relatable. Often reframes current experience with a great historical lens.

Parking Luton away
at 13:19 6 Oct 2022

Hi, I'll be driving to this one, last time I went there we were in Division 1, I went by train and Tony Thorpe chants were hanging in the air.

Any tips on parking? Beech Hill conservative club seems to be the best option I could find on line.

Cheers

How Did We Manage To Not Get A Striker?
at 09:25 2 Sep 2022

I'm more worried about how the FFP headroom is probably restricting our ability to offer improved and longer contracts to a top assets which will in turn impact transfer fees

Can someone explain this ref?

I think you misunderstood my post completely. My frustration is with the Linos reaction. Nothing new or unusual a player running the clock

Can someone explain this ref?
at 09:16 3 Apr 2022

I sit SA road B block. Whilst the penalty was ridiculous and infuriating the incident which riled me the most was end of the first half we had a throw in Bryan was time wasting letting the ball roll between his feet pretending to kick it back then let it roll again, he was laughing, nothing new to see here of course, BUT the lino was looking him in the eye laughing with him. Small example of an officiating culture towards game management which is not right. Also shows an incredible lack of awareness or understanding of what infuriates fans. Poor, really poor.

Their fourth sub for concussion - but he did his hamstring !!!

Clearly gamed it. Sensible initiative but clearly going to be abused. Under the rules we were then permitted to make a 4th "normal" sub

Non QPR - Berlin recommendations
at 13:16 13 Jan 2022

Great city, so much history and manageable size wise A couple of more obscure recommendations:

1) Trabi tour this was great fun http://www.trabi-safari.de/index.php?language=en
2) Computer games museum https://www.computerspielemuseum.de/1210_Home.htm you can play all the games. My kids loved it, trip down memory lane for me

Feigning Injury to Waste Time - Change Rules - Immediate Yellow Card
at 17:10 6 Dec 2021

Pretty rare that a player needs urgent treatment. With a broken leg does it matter whether you get immediate treatment or wait 2 minutes? Not really. Plenty of footy going on without a phyio even in attendance

I'd agree it is impossible for the ref to police. I'd suggest game only stopped immediately if the 4th official tells the ref to or ref/lino have serious immediate concerns. Apart from that play never stopped to invite the physio on. If the physio does come on the player has to stay off the pitch for at least two mins and only re-enters during a break in play after that 2 mins. Exceptions being keeper or if a yellow card was issued for the offence.

Simple to understand, I think relatively straight forward to apply. Sensible probably. Will it happen no.

Alan Parry's comment on time wasting
at 10:37 4 Nov 2021

Did anyone raise an eyebrow at Alan Parry's commentary last night on the red button.
Probably not verbatim but very close, "I don't understand why fans always seem to get so wound up about time wasting, the ref will just add time on at the end and if it is really bad produce a card."

Obviously not been watching/commentating much over the last few years!

Brentford don't have an academy. My son is U12 plays in the QPR set up. Half of his Sunday team play in the Brentford A development team. I'd say the standard is pretty mixed, way short of academy level

My Euro 2020 Final experience @ Wembley
at 13:22 15 Jul 2021

Your post does not surprise me. I took my two kids up to Wembley at around 3 pm to sample the atmosphere. At that point it was boisterous but not aggressive, we left before 5. However the volume of people, numbers without tickets and time drinking was always likely to result in issues. The police were keeping a low profile.

However I was lucky enough to go to the England semi final with my eldest. We did go into the ground 90 minutes before kick off but the experience was fantastic. Really good natured and enjoyable inside and outside the ground.

Union Berlin and Poulter
at 09:26 13 Apr 2019

I’m here with the family. Interesting city lots of history, largely destroyed in ww2 not the same architecture as other European cities. Kids loved the computer museum. Nightlife is supposed to be fantastic but I’ve not tasted it. Enjoyed some great bars and beers.

You should take a game in. Really enjoyed union Berlin, standard league 1 I’d say. Even met a fellow R on the train on the way back from the match. Polter played 6 mins and scored

Well I haven’t come to Berlin purely to watch the football tbh. I enjoy taking a match whilst away and enjoy even more if lower down the pyramid with passionate loyal fans. Poulter was no Messi but he was a character and gave his all. Worth at least a dozen Hemeds. Missing the Swansea game hope BOS starts
