That's an honest view from you, swichingcode. Thanks.
However, you're not right about our lads making the first team. Kieran Morgan (18/19) played 30 times for the first team last season, with a few others making the bench and one or two getting minutes.
They're very good observations on Murphy, Hunter. He's had a stand out season in many ways and has always played to a high level in the games I've seen. But I agree with you, he probably won't make the step up at QPR and we could even see his departure this summer given the new expectations on the youngsters.
There shouldn't be many who played in the final who won't be around next season. It's clear that the club is seeing higher-quality youngsters coming through now and is also attracting better players to the DS like Alex Wilkie, Esquerdinha, and Cian Dillon now. We should expect a few to filter through to the senior squad in time.
I'm another who really enjoyed the game tonight. I didn't think we'd win but we did and in some style too. This cup win will help us to continue to add more quality youngsters.to the ones we already have. The future is looking better than it has for decades.
It seems Aoraha and Talla are the forgotten lads of the Dev Squad. I'd have both of them on the bench at least. They're among the most physical and experienced players in the DS and we may well need that tonight.
I know little about him. Norwich didn't do much better than us and he was sacked before the end of the season. Maybe not the best? I wonder how the interview went and how many were in the waiting room?
I think we'll see a very similar side to the one that played the semi final v Burnley. As mentioned, Salamon might play in place of Shepperd, and I'm interested to see if Talla or Aoraha are included in the squad. Their experience and physicality could be beneficial.
It's not only that their three successive promotions have been artificially engineered and funded that should concern us, it's that football has become a provider of 'content'.
As the article points out: "...observe how young people consume soccer and you’ll quickly realize that most of them engage with it in all imaginable ways except for watching full games – but some sort of end stage has been reached. Soccer is the raw material now, not the final product."
You did indeed post that and I admit I was sceptical. But you appear to have been right on this, at least for Cook.
Your posts about Cifuentes, which I was also sceptical about, appear to have proven right as well. You clearly have knowledge that few if any of us have privy to, and I will take more account of your posts in the future.
I raised an eyebrow at Nourry's final sentence in the article: “Although Steve’s campaign was curtailed by his plantar fasciitis, which he continues to recover from, we are pleased to have the opportunity to work together in 2025/26.” It has a certain 'damning with faint praise' about it. And that it points out that Cook has not yet recovered from his plantar fasciitis injury, which can take a long time, is a concern.
I will wait with interest for the club's announcement on Colback as it's been suggested he is on a similar contract to Cook's.
The date of that report is 8 May. Why hasn't this been on mainstream media? I can't see anything much elsewhere apart from that report which makes me rather suspicious.
I saw this film today. It's a beautiful and important work, similar to End of the line (2009) and Seaspiracy (2021) but with a little bit of hope. Maybe, just maybe, the world will listen to 99 year old David Attenborough.
I don't think I've seen anyone question Nourry's intentions. I'm sure he wants QPR to succeed. It would be truly bizarre if it were not so.
I do think many have questioned Nourry's methods, as indeed I do. By that I mean how he communicates with the fans - and I do care about contract lengths as do many others. How he communicates, or rather doesn't, with fan groups such as LFW. How he has overseen a recruitment strategy which caused such difficulties this season. How he has managed the situation with Cifuentes, which I admit is not entirely clear, but has nonetheless resulted in the departure of the most popular and promising head coach for many years.
If he stays around he may yet prove to be successful in the long term but so far I and many others are not at all impressed.
That would be 11/12 goals for the season, so as good a goals to games ratio as any striker we've had since Austin 10 years ago.
Interestingly, Frey is slightly better than that this season at 1 in 3.5 games.
I'm yet to be convinced that Kelman or Frey - or Celar for that matter - are the answers to our long-standing striker problem, but unless there's an Eze sale this summer, they will probably be the best we can hope for.
