Reading reports of the Barnsley and Charlton games, the team's comparative lack of fitness gets mentioned. So does Bright Osayi-Samuel's apparent inability to run at opponents in the way that he did earlier in the season. When the date of the re-start was announced, the club protested publicly - which seemed odd at the time. A Fulham-supporting friend asked me 'What was that all about?' I had no idea and all I could suggest was that, when the players had come back to training, the stats had shown that they were more unfit than the staff had expected. With two unimpressive performances behind us, is that now the explanation?

Mark Palios (ex-FA and now owner of Tranmere Rovers) quoted in The Guardian today, saying 'Our defenders have been social distancing all season...'
Has anyone heard any other football gems in recent times?

No disruption to the squad that did the pre-season work together. No noses put out of joint by new arrivals. The odd loan may add a bit of depth, but, there is every reason now to make the very best of what we already have. Let's take the shackles of Eze; get Grant Hall back on the pitch and settle on a way of making the most of Matt Smith's aerial power. By that, I do not mean hoofing it up for him to bring it down and lay it off - he is not Bobby Zamora. We have players capable of feeding him. Let's work on that.
