Return of Wild Thing, desperate nostalgia play or just the tonic? Column
at 20:17:07

I think we have given him a good shot here. 1 or 2 wins will secure our status any bad results put down to what he inherited while he tries to build a team ethos and his own style - he will have the summer and preseason all with limited expectation and low risk. I desperately want him to do well ... fingers crossed

QPR hit top gear, slaughtering woeful Reading - Report
at 19:39:41

On Jimmy Dunne, as an Irish supporter and fairly avid internet user on all Irish players he wasn't even much on the radar when we got him (Masterson was always the next big thing - and still might be) - so I am putting this one down to great coaching. Apart from that I am too scared to say anything in case it breaks the delicate .. whatever wonderful thing is happening about Loftus road at the moment. These are the good old days is a brilliant way to put it

QPR made to scrap for a point by rejuvenated Reading - Report
at 21:23:58

I thought Manning was poor with the ball in the first half which is so unusual for him. Today I see Mick McCarthy was at the game (saying he may get capped at the next Ireland friendly v New Zealand) and I thought that explains it ... because usually he is such a great distributor and crosser ...

Right I don't post often but your McIlvanney words rang bells . The knack he had of knowing how to really write (not report) about sport in depth with heart and wit is all over your stuff - explains a lot.

QPR's renewed heart and fight secures Fulham point - Report
at 22:22:41

I think the most important thing for me is that this is an easy team to support now - how much money do we have? Where should we be? whatever ... 11 guys go play their hearts out - closing down, battling - do we want more skill yes of course we do ... but damn its great to have a team that leaves the pitch knackered after giving everything ... thats the least we expect and we haven't always had it but we do now ...and honestly that makes everything easier win or lose.

Spurs’ mad minute stuns improving QPR — full match report
at 02:17:35

I'll chip in here. If we had a win in the bank I think we would all be feeling positive because we played really well.... but an OG and a great break away goal stole a result from us. I would like to nag on the negatives but except for the fact that we need to put the ball in the net there werent any. Corners .... my word ... do you remember corners from the R's when the ball continuously fizzed across the 6 yard line with chaos in the defence. Good for you if you can because I cant ....we had loads and almost every Granero delivery was spot on. Dyer played really well, Clint (sorry again mate I always thought you were crap before we bought you) was outstanding and Cesar will continue to exude confidence from behind. There is no doubt - we are a good team - able to compete and take points off the best, but we could do with a few points to prove it.

Johnson out for season, Nelsen brands Terry ‘embarrassing’ — diary
at 01:33:28

When we signed Nelsen, apologies for my Blackburn and Spurs ignorance, I was underwhelmed but I see what Hughes was looking at - he has a great temperament and an old head - as I posted on the match report, he would be a suitable home for the armband if we find ourselves in need of one.

Much improved QPR held to draw by Chelsea — full match report
at 01:30:46

Great report ...few additional thoughts. I really have sympathy for Green but Swansea wasnt his first for us he had another huge howler in the preseason in Asia - Cesar was the root of defensive solidity and the good save after a few minutes was just what he and we needed. Nelsen has been very very good, a wise old head in the middle of defence and a suitable home for the armband if we ever need one. Speaking of which Parks solidarity may have been related to Rio not to Anton but in either case he WAS wearing the armband and it was the right choice. The vilification that Anton and even worse. his family, have had to go through, is monstrous for something he never did. All that rubbish aside - we looked strong at the back (sorry mate neither was a penalty) and mouth wateringly lovely in midfield - a little more threat up front would be nice but the opposition werent bad. Finally I thought Mariner was excellent - in what could have been an explosive bloodbath on and even possibly of the field - he took no crap from dives and left the game as an afterthought - which given the circumstances was a great performance.

Chelsea see red as QPR record famous victory — full match report
at 01:40:15

Clive - awesome - I agree with everything except the ref score ...too often Chelsea, United and especially Arsenal get the benefit from "decisions that could go either way" sportstalk crap for "bottled it for a big club".

Now enjoy all that and the lovely points - but we need to to fight for every single point to stay up - the next few games look daunting and the run in nightmarish - Warnock is the right man in the right place - we will need to dig trenches and sit in them if we are to stay up - we lost opportunities against Blackburn, Bolton and Fulham - now we need to get points against Chelsea, United Spurs and the rest - I dont know what the odds are - I still reckon we are there or thereabouts to go down - doesnt mean we cant enjoy this win - but make no mistake we have some skill and talent but we will need the grit and mentallity of a Warnock to keep us up. If we get another year - thats a different story .....

Gorkss, Barton and the great ticket price crash
at 02:06:10

Great article Clive and nice to see an apology on behalf of all of us that thought this was another wind up from the club. Whisper it quietly but the Fernandes take over coupled with the new board and the appointment of Beard (which I still think is a masterstroke of huge proportions) has positioned us well as a club. Now what actions we take will decide on our future and the initial response has been so "spot on" to be bloody scary. Could it be that we have an owner, board, marketing arm and manager capable of bringing us to real premiership class? From my armchair far away it would appear so and if thats the case we are set for good times.

On Barton - think of Adel Tarabt. Mercurial pain in the ass before Warnock got his hands on him and turned his selfish playground tricks into by far the best player in the championship last year, a captain (at first a joke and then later not so much) - if anyone can put an arm around Barton, defend him to the media, kick his ass in public and private when he needs it and unleash his undoubted talent - its our boss. The board and manager will have discussed Barton and not taken this decision lightly - they have earned the right to make that choice .... I trust them - there I've said it (now I need a lie down)
