New cheap season tickets
at 15:27 26 Jul 2024

Provided I'm reading this right, why would it be Blue in the Lower School End when it is bronze in the Lower Loft?

I was always under the impression that the two ends were regarded as comparable, but possibly that was only due to the prices we could charge away supporters.

Normal result for away to Fulham!

In the same qualifying round Fenerbache won 4-3 away to FC Lugano. Perhaps Celar would have made all the difference!

Osayi-Samuel started the match & Dzeko (he always scored against us) scored three for Mourinho's team.

Football World War
at 10:05 24 Jul 2024

I thought that this was going to be a reference to the Honduras & El Salvador war which allegedly started from a World Cup qualifying match between the two countries in 1969.

This is commonly referred to as the "football war".

How the mighty have fallen

This post is more about Scunthorpe than Needham, but I'm sure it's only a matter of time until Scunny return to the EFL. Barrow took decades ro return, but most clubs eventually make it back to the promised land!
Of the 92 Premier & EFL clubs this season, only 15 were not in the EFL in the 1960/61 season. I thought it was 16, but Peterborough replaced Gateshead that summer. The "newcomers" being Bromley, Burton, Cambridge, Cheltenham, Crawley, Fleetwood, Harrogate, MK, Morecambe, Oxford, Salford, Stevenage, Wigan, Wimbledon, Wycombe.

The replaced clubs are Aldershot, Bradford Park Avenue, Bury, Chester, Darlington, Halifax, Hartlepools, Oldham, Rochdale, Scunthorpe, Southend, Southport, Torquay, Workington, York.

Some of the clubs that have played in the EFL & non-league are "phoenix" clubs, Accrington, Aldershot, Boston, Bury , Darlington, Gateshead, Hereford, Newport, Wimbledon among them, but I'm sure there are others.

I suppose my point is that although clubs do progress/regress, over the course of time most return to their allotted place in the system.

Anyhow, good luck to Needham for the season.

Converting loans to shares does not come off the losses.

It reduces the amount the club owe & the book value of individual shares by increasing the amount of sharesin the company.

905 tickets for our cup run
at 13:50 22 Jul 2024

I hadn't considered going to this game, but after enjoying what I saw on Saturday, I thought I'd try for a ticket.

Cambridge, here I come! I might even bump into Stowmarket on the last Cambridge to Ipswich train following our victory!

That was a good workout for us & I thought our youngsters performed well. Lloyd looked a real handful.

That half was far better than most pre season friendlies.

I'm getting tempted to go to the Brighton match!

The "doesn't create much by himself" comment.

I would argue that moving into the correct position to have goalscoring chances is self creation.

Thank you Clive.

I can't remember a summer when I've been as pleased with our transfers as this. We just need them to work now!

Transfer rumours 2024
at 17:40 19 Jul 2024

I would imagine 20% of anything over £2.5m & any add on's that we've received. If all of the £1m has been paid to us it would be the profit over £3.5m (at least, that would be my reading of it).

If the transfer happens, whether anyone ever finds out the actual fee received would be questionable.

There have always been second kits. They were just referred to as the change kit rather than away!

It was as strong a Tottenham team as was possible (Euro & South American championship players excluded).

I'm beginning to wish I was going. The brownie points I'm gaining though might come in handy this season!

I think you've described my views here simmo. I would also include pleading guilty (eventually) as mitigation. However, I struggle to understand how he could accept the advce from his previous lawyer of "deny & it will all go away" without question.

Perhaps this case will make us stop & think before blindly condemning other players who have been arrested for various offences. Before the name Barton is thrown back at me, I do not include THAT MAN in this statement, but that is simply because I despise him more than any other footballer (past or present)!

I've just seen that Santa Coloma have reached the next round of qualifying for the Champions League.

This is obviously due to playing Rangers in their last friendly!

Cheers Clive.

I did see that Wakefield have been signing players for next year, two from Catalans including the return of Tom Johnstone.

I can't get my head around being allowed to make these signings this early. Obviously, the Wakefield owner (who I understand has invested heavily) must be very confident of a Super League placement. God knows what they do if it didn't come to fruition!

And who is responsible for arranging the fixtures? Wakefield finish the season with four home games! I know they will have played all teams away, but this is far from a balanced fixture list.

On a different subject for those with any knowledge of Super League (Clive definitely comes to mind), please could somebody speculate on which clubs are likely to be in Super League next year?

I understand that with the grading system coming into effect, London might not even make The Championship (is this possible?) & that Wakefield are the likely promoted team. Perhaps even being as high as 10th on the grading list. To achieve this, would Wakefield need to win the Championship play offs, or would finishing top of the league score enough?

Is there a chance that Toulouse will unseat Huddersfield (or even Hull)? And how do HKR score higher than Hull?

Lastly, is it right that a club could lose it's place due to another club receiving more hits on You Tube & other social media? I know the scores for this are low, but I understand that 0.1 might make all the difference.
