Stockport C. vs Chesterfield 20:50 - Nov 4 with 26209 viewsD_Dale

At half-time in tonight's replay that will decide Dale's FA Cup opponents, Stockport lead 2-0. A pity in a way as Dale would probably have stood a better chance of beating Chesterfield. Still, whichever side it is, the winners will face a big challenge to prepare for Saturday.

I see the glue sniffers are out in force on Facebook since yesterday. Some of them really need to seek help with their extreme mood swings that depend on the result of a game of football. No doubt at all that yesterday wasn’t great but frig me some of them can’t make their mind up about BBM from one game to the next.

And don’t get me started on the frankly bizarre post last week that suggested the CEO should let fans in to games then quote the magna fooking carta when the police come calling

Lay off the drugs kids.

It is a truly feral place that FB group. It certainly highlights the lack of intelligence amongst a worryingly large amount of fans. You can’t even blame it on a generational thing as the morons range from teenage to gods waiting room!

The way some of them have fallen for that WUM* going on about Southampton etc is worrying. Still, it gives an excuse for the old copy and paste to come out...

*One look at his ‘friends’ list gives it away to even the least intelligent of people.

My fear is that they have fielded an unregistered player and we have to sit through that again 😃

I found it all far too ponderous. It crossed my mind that if our players danced on Strictly, they’d look like they were moving a wardrobe.

It’s all so wooden. No imagination or guile.

I see a few more extracts from War & Peace have surfaced as well.

I think it is an embarrassment to lose, especially at home to a non league team, and even more so in a local derby, with a crap performance, however due to all the circumstances, it might not be a bad thing, in the sense it might be helpful in our league campaign to finish comfortably in mid table rather than batting all season in a relegation scrap. I have every confidence on what I have seen up to now this season we can finish mid table, probably in the lower end.

And remarkably, among all the doom and gloom, it's our first round one exit since we lost to Morecambe in 2012.

I remember the days when I thought the FA Cup started and finished in November!

Me too. We used to have a terrible record against non league teams, though maybe it seemed worse than it was when we lived through it. Yes in recent years we have done relatively well in the FA Cup. That’s the beauty of the Cup, so called shock results are not really shocks. Doesn’t take away though from the fact it wasn’t a good performance from us and it was a truly awful result, which football wise spoilt my Saturday.

Couple of extra random thoughts from yesterday:
With reference to Rooney’s goal I was talking to a neighbour who is a junior coach after Roofe scored a similar goal for Rangers in the Europa League last week.
He reckoned that we are going to see a lot more long range attempts like that simply as teams are trying to counter a high press with defenders keeping a high line and keepers patrolling on the edge of the penalty area. If the keeper has to stay nearer to his line then the whole team has to drop deeper. The game is constantly evolving tactically.
Coming from City Bazunu has been schooled in the concept of the sweeper keeper of course.
And I was in the cemetery (not the pub obviously) in the second half and we could hear quite clearly every announcement over the PA. “How do you put up with that racket when you’re actually inside the ground?” was my wife’s innocent question.

Bit of an unfortunate turn of phrase to use "inside the ground" and "cemetery" in the same sentence!

I’m cheered up this afternoon by the results of Scunthorpe, Burton and Wigan.
And MK Dons only got through on penalties.
Is it really true as well that Bradford City’s candidates for selection for goal of the month for October includes a penalty?

It's the phrase that was used to describe Jacqui Smith on Strictly Come Dancing. Her performance was described as looking as though 'someone was moving a wardrobe'. Very apt from the clip I saw.

“It is easier to fool people, than to convince them that they have been fooled”
