What passing-bells for these who die as cattle?

– Only the monstrous anger of the guns.

Only the stuttering rifles' rapid rattle

Can patter out their hasty orisons.

No mockeries now for them; no prayers nor bells;

Nor any voice of mourning save the choirs,–

The shrill, demented choirs of wailing shells;

And bugles calling for them from sad shires.

What candles may be held to speed them all?

Not in the hands of boys, but in their eyes

Shall shine the holy glimmers of goodbyes.

The pallor of girls' brows shall be their pall;

Their flowers the tenderness of patient minds,

And each slow dusk a drawing-down of blinds.

Wilfred Owen

is it time for pragmatism?
at 21:07 2 Nov 2014

Well I guess we have just seen the outcome of that tactic - shocking.

If you had been paying attention, you would have noticed Riga's plan B in many games, especially at home was take of midfielders and bring on the big strikers for the last 15-20 mins in an attempt to force a goal after keeping things tight for most of the game.

It didn't really work for him so not sure why 90 minutes of it would be seen as acceptable.

Clark's high intensity training sessions appear to be designed to get the players running around like headless chickens. Unfortunately think a headless chicken may offer more than Lundstram

Some people weren't too excited when Ollie got the job and criticised him as being a media whore!

This appointment is hardly inspiring.

We backed Riga - where did that get us?

He needs backing by the one man who ultimately controls our destiny. There is no precedent to suggest that will happen.

so if it is to be a British manager…..
at 07:59 29 Oct 2014

We've been here before, so many times recently.

The sad fact is, it really doesn't matter who the manager is. Nothing will change.

The budget airways model just cannot work in football.

Providing 11 players at the cheapest possible cost may fulfil fixtures but in will never fulfil the hopes and dreams of Blackpool FC supporters

One change you would make ...

It was getting to be a bit of a Paul Ince like performance towards the end.

Riga was trying to get them moving out but it's not so easy when the team is low on confidence

"the game was lost by lining up an inexperienced kid"

Some revisionism going on here?

His twitter account has him as a left back?

Maybe it's the old left back in the changing room scenario?

First of all, Dielna is not a raw kid - he is 24 years old, 25 in January.

Agree with SATW on most points.

Riga has a team, not a squad, so didn't have much choice to play him - and he did OK v. Cardiff.

Just watched the goals again and Peter Clarke was shocking as well. He's always been last ditch - rectifying his own mistakes but is way off the pace now. From Riga's pre-metach interview he seemed to suggest Clarke was the only leader we have, so guess that's why he was in the team.

Perkins has stood out every game the season - yesterday he was anonymous. This in itself is extremely concerning as he is not the best but without his persistent worrying of the opposition the midfield was non-existent.

Miller looked like he could't be bothered. Zoko didn't do much when he came on.

We had a few decent chances second half from crosses by Mendy but messed them up.

Riga has no hope with no investment in the team.

McMahon was booked again - soon to be suspended? Perkins can't be far off either. Scenario without J Oriol, McMahon, Perkins, Cubero is frightening considering our next few opponents

We aren't even bargain basement anymore because to get a bargain you need to speculate with a little bit of cash. We are the scrapyard.

I have no doubt KO is waiting for the fans to turn on Riga,

It's not the European players struggling to keep possession - in the main

Balfour Beatty own it.

Robbie, I asked the question with the consideration that he has not outwardly changed his behaviour at all since his first week at the club

Are you inferring he has wanted to be paid off since the moment he arrived?

BRR,

Just one question for you;

What are the plus points, from Riga's perspective, of behaving the way you think/hear he has?

Also with the consideration that he has not outwardly changed his behaviour at all since his first week at the club

"All you can say at the end of it is that the manager remains as stubborn as ever, and the chairman as seemingly impotent and indecisive as he has ever been in all his time at the club"

I think you have impotent and stubborn the wrong way round

Love to hear why Rowett and Coyle turned down the job?
at 08:18 10 Sep 2014

Although Oystyon dislikes dealing with agents, negotiations were at an advanced stage after Oyston offered Coyle an impressive wage package to take on a club in turmoil.

But it is understood the former Burnley, Bolton and Wigan boss ruled himself out after becoming alarmed by reports from managers who have previously worked under Oyston.

it costs an applicant £550 to apply by post for a work permit in the UK, or £850 in person to process the application on the same day.

So why is it taking so long?

A grand service provided last night.
A little slower than usual, forced by a moonlit, compulsory tour of Cheshire.

Just a little disappointed to miss the "Lost in the car wash at midnight" episode
