There is a definite dislike at present of the stats quo of politics in general across many countries. It got Corbyn into Labour, and got Trump to lead the republicans. The last election here was almost a vote for who was the 'least worst' candidate party.
The worrying thing in the US, is things have gone so badly someone like Trump can be seen as the saviour. Lots of soundbites about making things better, fixing this and that, but a total and utter complete lack of detail as to how to achieve any of it, even if we ignore his inflammatory speeches that are depressing to the core. It's been evident for along time he had a great chance of being the republican nominee, but I always thought he had no chance of the presidency, but am getting more nervous about that. I still retain my faith that the majority of people in most countries and decent people, and he therefore won't get in. He's like a right-wing Diane Abbot - spouting off crap at all times with no reasoning or evidence, being lapped up by the extremes of those on the far end of each party, but you hope most people can recognise the total drivel coming out of each of their mouths.
I can only hope I have a monster raving loony party candidate to vote for. | |

Totally agree, he gives no detail. Keeps saying I'll deal with ISIS when asked how he says I can't tell you now. He has no bloody idea how to deal with them and to promise he will wipe them out in days shows he has no idea what he is dealing with.

He's more likely to start start tailoring his speeches back towards the centre now. Basically he'll say whatever he needs to to get the votes. None of it necessarily will be consistent with what he said in the past, or what he will say or do in the future.
Thus far he's appealed to the staunch republican base, as they were the one's he needed for the primaries.

UK governments (like most in Europe) get accused of all being the same but, be it Labour or Tory, it proves virtually impossible to make radical change specifically because the power of the left in public office continually does everything it can to block change. I agree entirely too, that central banking systems play a huge part in this.
Maybe that's a good thing but I believe people are getting more and more disenchanted with this unelected elite, be it multinationals or bureaucrats, feeling any power they did have has literally disappeared. | | | |

Wouldn't the simplest explanation be that most elected governments now days occupy the centre ground in order to get votes, so they promise watered down left or right policies and generally keep most things the same through fear of upsetting the apple cart?
Edit: How can you say unions have been hijacked by the left moving into positions of power, they are fundamentally socialist movements so always were that way, it's not a conspiracy. It's a bit like when people claim that BBC staff are all labour only to find out that half were in the young conservatives. [Post edited 5 May 2016 23:55]
