An Oldham fan I work with says he is not renewing his season ticket and boycotting all games. Seems a ridiculous over-reaction to someone who maybe just admires Martin McGuinness for his part in the peace process?

Very true but the republican things is a load of bollocks anyway, I dont even think he has a view. His wife is English his kids are English, his best mates are English, his brother in law is a soldier in the British army ffs.
I think you will find the Oldham fans view of him has softened significantly after some very good performances in interviews... the recent GMR hour was a good example. He seems intelligent, is clearly driven, extremely qualified (UEFA pro) and quite well connected (Brendan Rodgers and Neil Lennon for two examples). He obviously just lacks experience but I'd rather that than 20 years of shit experience from some journeyman lower league manager.
Things are bright right now with the sensational new stand, season tickets going well and a bringht young manager. Of course that could all fall to pieces if he gets off to a bad start. But he deserves a chance and I am looking forward to see his style.
At least we will both see decent crowds next year as attendances must be higher next season. Hoping our average drifts back above 5k.
