£19M for Wilf? 09:30 - Jun 3 with 4964 viewsJethroJack

According to Sky Sports, we've declared a value of £19M for Wilf.
Why do this BEFORE the World Cup?
Is this figure enough of a deterrant?

Does anybody know whether there really is a buy-out clause? If so, it doesn't seem such a smart move at the reported price.

If the alternative was to not sign him at all, I'd say that it was a brilliant move.

Garry Monk was quoted as saying that it would take an "astronomical" bid for us to consider selling.

I don't think £19M comes close to anyone's definition of "astronomical" for a player like Bony.

We don't know what happened at the negotiation stage. Maybe Bony and his agent said this was the sell on price or he wouldn't sign.

But, as Monk has said "astronomical" I don't think it is right. We'll find out one day I suppose.

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

Sky Sports report? Mirror?...whatever the outlet?
Most of what's reported on here is bullshit...if we waited for confirmed facts, everything would be retrospective & yesterday's news.

Do people seriously believe that? They're trying to get view and sell papers, and they've done that.

When have we ever placed a buy out clause in a players contract? Why would we not leave any room for manoeuvre if this guy was to have a good season. There may be some some of clause that would allow Bony to speak to a club, but there isn't going to be a buy out clause at such a low price.

If there was a £19 million release clause, you don't think his agent would have revealed it earlier on in his statements when it would have been so easy to secure a move.

If there was such a clause, we'd have attempted to start contract discussion with him months ago and Garry Monk would not have stated that it would take an astronomical fee to sell him.

I just watched all his goals from last season -

Its incredible how many goals were scored with his head or around the penalty spot. With Michu fit next season and following Bony into the box hopefully we can see a lot more positive results.

Just to give you an idea of how the bookies rate Bony, he is ahead of Negredo, Hazard, Torres, Walcott, Adebayor, Carroll and Welbeck to be top goal scorer next season. We have to hold out for 20+mil looking at how much the above are valued.

The only players that scored more Premier League goals last season were:

Suarez
Sturridge
Toure
Aguero
Rooney

That should give some indication of his value.....

That's logical though. There is no measurement of value in the transfer market.

Can't see bony and his agent insisting on a release clause, simply because if i remember correctly, bony was desperate to come to Swansea.

I could understand selling him for upwards of £30m. That is an astronomical amount of money. £19m would be a farce and I don't for one second believe it is true.

£19 m is about right as he's had just one good season in the prem.Big clubs will want to see if he can repeat it before investing big money

It looks like Dwight has gone missing in action once again. He does that regular, especially when he just had a new arse ripped into him.
