One could say taking a stance and sticking to it, no matter how ridiculous might be on the money a similarity between the two.

why are most football hooligans right wing on 11:45 - Jan 26 with 1573 views | C_jack | It's not uncommon to see in Italy, where violence often occurs between right and left wing supporters. Sampdoria and Livorno being the best example, when they come up against the likes of Lazio and Roma. Other teams who generally have a left wing following are Celtic, Barcelona, and Marseille.

Nationalism means different things in different places. In England nationalists are right wing (many of them extreme right wing), whereas in the celtic countries they are more likely to be left or centre ground (and hence not xenophobic). In Wales and Northern Ireland there definitely seems to be a nationalist/loyalist split when supporting the national teams, rather than a left/right wing split (Wales fans are generally nationalists and NI fans loyalists). Perhaps that's why we've had so few hooligan problems at Wales internationals over the years. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

I have to disagree with you. Left wingers are not generally nationalistic. Plaid Cymru for example is in no way left wing, neither is the Scottish national party

Plaid under leanne Wood are indeed a left wing party, and sadly far more so than labour under Ed.

I never said that left wingers are nationalistic. I said that Welsh/Scottish nationalists are generally left wing/centre ground, which is a different statement altogether. The SNP are currently further left than Labour. Goodness knows where Plaid sit, but they're certainly not right wing.

They are left of centre libertine but I would not say very left just centre left, its the big 4 Westminster parties that are all right wing making Plaid seem very left wing when in reality Plaid are much closer to the centre than the big British nationalist parties. If you look at the 'political compass' website for the last General Election, Plaid was 3 notches on the graph left of centre, Lib-Dems were 3 to the right, Labour 4 to the right [so Labour more right wing than Plaid left wing], UKIP and the Conservatives 8 notches out of 10 to the right. SNP only 1 to the left and the Greens 4 to the left, so the Greens are more left leaning than Plaid according to that site. Plaids leader is very much a left wing lady mind. why are most football hooligans right wing on 18:57 - Jan 26 with 1264 views | llareggub | think its more a case of right wing organisations being attracted to hooligans rather than the other way round ...........after all if your such a group struggling for credibility hooligans willing to shout scream an act like eedjits creates news which raises the profile of said organisations ........its not like said people are doing much else for said groups is it .........how does it go all publicity is good publicity .

You very obviously haven't a clue as to what you are talking about. Look on those Plaid's policies and then post constructively. http://www.partyof.wales/our-vision/

You'd never be able to describe the likes of Saunders Lewis, for example, as a "leftie". Gwynfor Lewis probably was though.

You are certainly right on the pre and immediately post war Plaid, but its policies have been decidedly left of centre for decades since. Do you mean Gwynfor Evans?

Yes I did. Believe it or not my uncle is called Gwynfor Lewis. Obviously some kind of Freudian thing going on there.
