You mean James Thomas for the Hull memory, not Coates but I agree with you on that one. I'd agree again with Curt's goal. Added to those: Beating Tottenham and West Ham 1-0 in the League and FA Cup. Legg's goal v Stoke. The atmosphere v Panathinaikos and Robbie's penalty. Beating Cardiff 4-1 in the snow. The North Bank. The East Stand floodlight. [Post edited 2 May 2015 10:00]

Vetch Field... on 21:30 - May 1 with 3541 views | morningstar | I can't really work out how individual performances or goals can be included in best memories of the Vetch, but each to their own. For me it's: Swansea v Chesterfield Swansea v Leeds Swansea v Hull

I remember the reserve games as a kid. I used to walk around to the north bank, sometimes I'd be the only one on there, as only the centre stand would be open, and if Ton Pentre (for example) were playing in red, I'd stand there alone imagining we were playing Man Utd! Heh heh! Great days!

It's odd how unlikely games stick in my memory. The draw against Nuneaton in the FA Cup. A 0-0 against Hull which was a midday kick off for some reason. The time Raynor came back to the Vetch and was ritually abused for 90 minutes. Not memorable games, but times at the Vetch which will inexorably stick in my memory. 10 years since that Shrewsbury game. Bloody hell.

Vetch Field... on 23:47 - May 1 with 3269 views | builthjack | My first match, 1969. Swans 3, Hartlepool 0. Sat in the wooden stand, each time we scored everyone stamped their feet for ages, brilliant for a kid. The prisoners trying to watch the game from their cells. The half time refreshments. Aston Villa, in the old 3rd division. 24000 packed into the Vetch, the North bank rocking, my Dad had to put me on his shoulders. Some skinhead telling my Dad to effing get that kid down, so my Dad put me down, lifted the skinhead two foot off the ground, and told him to run. He did! So back on the shoulders it was. Nottingham Forest. That game! Superb. No stories for me to tell, you all know about that one.

Vetch Field... on 00:27 - May 2 with 3222 views | budegan | 1. Holding a exceptionally good Liverpool to 0-0 in the very early 90's (can't remember the date, but do remember us losing 9-0 on something in the replay); 2. Another FA Cup game I think, this time v Millwall. Tasty atmosphere; Cyril wrestle's Lenny the Lion's head off & boots it into the North Bank; 3. The game v I can't remember who, when we went mental at Petty OR the v last game league game at the Vetch. Gone but NEVER forgotten.

The prisoners - to be honest when I was 10 year old on the North Bank with my uncle I was more interested in looking at the prisoners peering through the glass than the game. Where were they standing - was it the chapel or the staircase?

Me and my mate did that a few times, we'd get a bloke ask if we were ball boys. Yep ha ha. One game we stood behind the goals, for the second half felt great. Being a mascot, it was a brilliant day.

Personal Breaking my nose on a roof girder Being stabbed in the leg on the North Bank by a Leeds supporter (at the game above) Dragging police out of the East when Rhyl visited in the cup (we were helping the police .. who thanked us by arresting several fans who had jumped in to save them from a hammering. Happy days.
