If the 48% of those who voted equates to 50.1% of MP's , that's how our parliamentary democracy works. Glad to see the court has upheld parliamentary sovereignty and democracy, and not given in to a demagogue unelected Prime Minister.

Is this the beginning of the end of Brexit on 11:30 - Nov 3 with 2480 views | the_oracle | Petrol rising at its fastest rate for three years, inflation forecast at 4%, prices expected to be up by 10% this time next year, the pound crashing ( already cost me £150 more for this years holiday), deals made with Japanese car firm to keep them here, which we wouldn't have needed to do if we voted in . But we will keep out a few pesky Poles and stop them stealing our jobs, so all good then.

Of course it will happen, sadly, but not with unelected Theresa simply acting as she feels fit. Especially with the bunch of idiots involved like Davis, Boris, and Fox. You would not trust that lot with your shopping mun. Lets be having you Theresa, man up and make the case for the sort of Brexit that is 'best', ie least worst, for us poor dabs. Yep, and the disconnect between them and the constituents they pretend to represent is wider than it has been in centuries. Take the towns of Burnley and Rotherham. Both voted to leave with a near 70% of the vote, yet their Labour MP's are still passionately campaigning to have the result overturned. We are reaching a pivotal moment.

No we are not. The people were duped by Boris and his bus promise. Did we ever get that money for the NHS btw? The MPs saw through the lies and deceit - and knew it would be hugely damaging for most people. Except Boris and his gang of course. So the MPs did exactly the right thing and led by example. This is not a game. It will mean less money for schools, hospitals, and social security, less jobs, less opportunity for the young. Shameful for the likes of Boris who knew the risks and did not give a damn. He cares about himself alright though.

Ask the young in Greece, Spain and Italy about the opportunities the EU are giving them, I suggest you would get a very short answer that includes the word "off".

Is this the beginning of the end of Brexit on 12:11 - Nov 3 with 2344 views | Clinton | Well, whether we eventually leave or not, at least the referendum had the effect of removing those pusillanimous, upper middle class, privately educated, toffee-nosed prats Cameron and Osborne. For that we should be grateful. Cameron showed his true lack of mettle by resigning his parliamentary seat. Just shows his lack of grit that he has gone off, presumably, to try something else.

There is no need for a parliamentary vote to leave.. The question was put to the British people...they voted for Brexit that was fair...through an Act of Parliament. The question was put to the British people and they voted to leave the EU. To put this now to Parliament to decide whether or not to see it through makes a mockery of our democracy when the people have already spoken... even if I voted remain I would be outraged at this. Our democracy is being usurped by an elite group of intellectuals in the legal system who have found some loophole or other to exploit to ensure the final decision is more likely to go their way and remain. Its not right people. This could now go on for years instead of triggering it in March.

Would the Lords also have to pass any Bill repealing the 1972 European Communities Act ? Dont recall the Lords being elected, in fact a lot of them have been chucked out, or retired as MPs somewhere along the way.

Cameron and Osbourne, although I never voted for them, were several orders of magnitude preferable to the rabble we have in charge now.
