That comment wasn't in response to the op video. It was more to do with Ebo's use of the phrase "the planetswans nazis", but he won't say which of us are the nazis despite asking him twice.

I'm curious to find out soon so we can start to plan the annexation of the Sudetenland.

Highjack

I did realise that.

But no one can deny the appropriation of mid 20th century right wing symbolisation in the video and that was something you rightly were condemning.

Granted we both know what they are up to in the OP clip. They knew they were being filmed, they knew it would go viral and it was deliberate. Childishly, gleefully so. They knew it would turn the liberal media apoplectic and in the process garner them the sort of publicity they could never have bought in a million years.

Here's the thing though, if a group has the preservation of European culture as its stated aim do you think they are evoking the Third Reich or classical Rome and Hellas when they say it? Suppose that was a meeting at Jesus College, Oxford and the speaker greeted the applause with the Roman salute. Would context matter?

Loh

No.

Symbolism is all.

And we all know what they were refering to.

If your credo is to be taken seriously it needs to rid itself of these concepts and imagery altogether.

Not the same thing at all. She was shouting down, attempting to disrupt the assembly as her sort are wont to do. If she wanted to make her point she could have done it at questions afterward.

Are you seriously saying that she wasn't herself shouted down both from the speakers and the audience?

Have you been down the club..?

Now in my opinion both sides are as bad as each other.

The control of language is the control of thought, this is how politics works at the moment.

There is very little reasoned debate anymore everything is filtered through ill thought out sloganism on both sides of the debate and both are as bad as each other.

Lets look at the word "Globalism" WTF does it really mean?
Coca Cola?
Ford?
Apple?
Murdoch?

Are we all suddenly going to stop buying this shite?
And if we did what would be the effect on our Football Club?

And I know you are a really well read person and yet earlier in this thread you proposed that the likes of Trump , Bannon , Farage , Johnson and feckin Gove were somehow the harbringers of a revolution that would benefit the ordinary working individual....really? I meen f uck me really?

I don't run around the place giving the Roman salute to everybody I greet on the road, mun!

Does appropriated symbolism become the property of the thief? At the end of the day we're talking about a gesture that stretches back over three thousand years into classical antiquity, are we really associating that exclusively with a regime that was in existence for all of twelve years. I take it you understand its original meaning? The open hand signifying action in good faith, that one is hiding nothing.

PS: I'm sure you realise I'm enjoying myself immensely on this thread.

Amusing.

You and I both know that the politcal and cultural objectives that you support will never ever be given widespread credence as long as they appropriate the symbolism you support yet you seem unable to be able to let it go....

*Half a mo', she gate-crashed a meeting and went screaming down the aisle like a frenzied harridan. She was attacking free speech not exercising her right to it. I'm sure you know the difference without me having to explain it.

* What does Globalism really mean? The reality is our decimated manufacturing base. Have a think about all the places you've seen padlock the gates around here in the last fifteen to twenty years. Stagnating wages for those still in employment and an uncertain future for kids starting school now. That's the reality.

* I've no faith in those you mention at the end but I'm certain they have let the nationalist genii out of the bottle and there is nothing now going to put it back. Have a look at the clip below, does it remind you of the footage of Ceaușescu's last balcony appearance? There are elections all over Europe in the next year.

Ok

Point 1 - Yes she was passionate about her buzzwords but so were the baying crowd in the auditorium, a mature and confident speaker would have attempted to engage with her and use her anger to back up his case. i think we can both agree this didn't happen.
So is this the way forward?

Point 2 - Agreed our industrial infrastucture has been decimated by the slavish adherence to the "market". Is there anyone out there that has any coherent plan to pull us out of this self defeating, dangerous and harmful credo?

Point 3 - see point 2.

I tend to disagree with that first statement, in the talk he mentions about being shut down with meaningless terms, and people not buying it anymore, and she very much proved his point by doing the exact thing he previously described. This was a function with a Q+A session to allow free asking of questions after the talk in a room that was hired for a private function, thus her ejection was warranted and her chance of expressing freely her thoughts limited to the protest and physical obstruction taking place on the property outside the venue. She was free to make her expressions known, the crowd were free to make them back, and the speaker was free to make the snarky comments, and then she was free to be ejected for breaching the rules of the forum. To be truthful, it was perfect timing when the disruption occurs, begging the question, was it set up in advance? I'd say no, I'd just say it was just so predictable that this happens, attacking an argument with cheap insults, and nothing to back it up.

I agree that it got juvenile with the insults back, but again it proves exactly what he was saying, people are no longer being kowtowed into submission by being called certain things or having an opinion that is not the same as another.

Well disrupting the political meetings of their opponents was a favoured tactic by the nazis so by the logic that exists on planet Ebo, the girl in that video is a horrific nazi along with her friends and anyone who associates with or indeed speaks to her.

The creatures outside looked from pig to man, and from man to pig, and from pig to man again; but already it was impossible to say which was which.

I enjoyed that.

The principal characters all being American commentators, I take it? You're right I didn't recognise them. The funniest or saddest thing, depends how you look at it, is it could work equally well as satire or straight reporting. These people exist and these are the bizarre things they come out with.

Hmmmph. The only character I recognized was the sheriff from some state in the Midwest, so you need not feel uncomfortable, especially inasmuch as your last sentence demonstrates your full understanding, and makes your point perfectly.

Agreed

And it worked both ways

The girl who tried to protest in the auditorium was also stopped from speaking.

No, she was prevented from rudely interrupting -- the chief intellectual presentation of her kind. After she had been convinced to behave herself, she had nothing of value to say -- except unsubstantiated name-calling.

As Hillary did by specifically identifying her basket of "deplorables" and thereby brought them to the polls en masse to defeat her. [p.s. I was there.]

No I think you need to listen you demented cockwomble, if all your friends hold nazi views then obviously this is why you feel it is the norm. Don't wheel out the our grandfathers line either. If they saw the sort of crap you associate them with they would be ashamed. They fought to protect rights and liberties, not for your bunch of nutters to give them away.

The only mixed up hateful person here is you. It is clear to see that you are far left, nobody needs you to come out and say it. You just are accusing centre right view of being far right. These people are nothing like the far right, and by telling them that is what there are is legitimising the far right and offering them a home. Yet I get the impression that would suit you, as your life only has meaning if you have something to fight against....FFS save some money and go buy yourself a Mrs from wherever the latest import brides come from, as you clearly are lacking some love.

Oh dear, what a tantrum.

Actually my grandfather would be disgusted with the likes of you sticking up for the alt
right as he was a staunch socialist like myself (not far left as you wrongly assume).

The alt right are certainly not centre right its been proven in the video I posted, but you choose to defend them....

Actually that video just shows a handful of people from a much larger movement of the alt right appearing to be racist in their views. This is only showing the extreme fringe of the right. They would be far right in their views, and that happen to find themselves in the alt-right group. My advice would be to go and speak to a more balanced cross section before judging on the whole movement. The alt--right definitely have central right people, as well as far right and even some who identify as centrist. In fact, most people I have seen who identify themselves in the alt right have outright denounced the actions of the OP video.

The OP video was cringeworthy, and the ridicule those people receive is 100% warranted, but they do not speak for the vast majority of those on the alt-right, and this is coming from someone who isn't part of it, but actually has engaged in conversations with a lot of people who identify with the movement.

It's just like the protesters against Trump being labeled all as far left, hate mongering, racist (targeting caucasians), violent, anti democratic, criminals, when you view the language and actions seen at the demos. This wouldn't be the truth though as most engage in civil protest, but a large chunk fit that bill.

Do you believe BLM to be a racist, deplorable organisation?

You could apply that principle to Islam then I suppose. A very small minority who support terrorism yet the majority are peaceful people. But I doubt many would agree with that on here.

I don't know enough about BLM to be fair to give an answer but the alt right attracts the wrong people and this is where it gets dangerous.

Unfortunately with Islam, a small minority, say 15-25% who identify as radical Islam is equivalent to around 180 million people, significantly more than a handful of people in a civic center. Then again I do agree with your point, that is why I identify those Muslims as radical Islamists, the far right of their faith. Christianity went through the same thing many years ago before enlightenment and reform, and now that kind of behaviour is limited to a handful of third world countries, and pocket groups elsewhere, a pocket group possibly seen in the OP video.

Yes, like any politically divisive group, you will get these people gravitating, you only have to look at the demonstrations for the violence being committed and the criminal activity
by the anti-trump protests, something you are rarely seeing, apart from often anecdotal evidence or debunked stories, from the alt right (not that there hasn't been incidents, just not in the frequency reported initially)..

Leftist organisations equally attract the "wrong people" also. Both extremes of the spectrum are as bad as each other in my view.
