BREAKING: Police: "A number of fatalities" at Ariana Grande concert in Manchester, England.

Shocking news.

Poll: Can Montero do it on a rainy Saturday afternoon?

Was thinking the same Paul.

Mine has been many times with my missus to MEN to see girlie acts

This venue seems to have been targetting young girls

I've seen much wickedness in my life but this is right up there

Muslims have to deal with this . Ideally ,a massive rally in London on the lines of ..not in my name

Do we now seek to engage ISIS and who should negotiate

Absolutely-this was clearly an act to kill and maim young girls.

These vile creatures will not negotiate

So...it's all out war ,Paul

For them to be eradicated ,we need to be united ,Muslims especially along with us and merciless ,as they are.

I'm really quite intelligentand interviewed some evil feckers in my time but I'm struggling to understand the mentality of someone who, on a pleasant evening, pops along to a kids concert and detonates a device

That's the point. How could you negotiate with a lone wolf nutter that just decides one morning to empty the cutlery draw, jump in the car and go on a killing spree??

Ditto last nights attacker. This Hydra has millions of heads. At least the IRA were a body with a hierarchy. You can negotiate with a hierarchy.

The "lone wolf nutter" mantra is used to persuade the public there's not really a major problem.

Getting a knife from cutlery drawer, jumping into car. Simple things everyone can do.

Making an explosive? Somewhat different, could have been a lone wolf but chances are it was someone with help, with resources.

IRA scum, you're right - there was a hierarchy. There's a hierarchy within Daesh of sorts - difference being there's no will, no desire, no interest in negotiating despite the claims of some politicians.

I'm sick of the platitudes. Community spirit, extremists don't represent communities, carry on and don't give them what they want. There are at least 22 dead. Start by addressing that fact first of all.

People are way too hung up on "rights" whilst ignoring responsibilities and consequences. How very dare intelligence services do their best to detect attacks before they happen by covert means. Let's handicap their ability to do their job, prevent such attacks in the wonderful notion of pretending we're wonderful with full rights... one side doesn't play by rules, doesn't care for rules, doesn't care for rights. Our weakness is being exploited and laughed at.

Bluesy.

If these people are or were caught ,we would spend time and money giving them a fair trial then keep them comfortable in prison

Our pitiful navel gazing ,reflective insouchiance isn't helping when it comes to eliminating these people.

Soldiers have been sent to prison for breaking the " rules" , rules which are deadly...for us

No matter who or what has been bombed in the Middle East, British citizens should not be doing this . Our bombing doesn't help but neither does their indiscriminate bombing

It's fundamentalism , it's religion based .

Our involvement in foreign wars does not justify this slaughter

Of course it doesn't. And I've not seen anyone at all saying it does.

Thoughts go out to the families of not just the dead but the injured too. Often with these things you look at the headline 22 dead and think "those poor souls". But there will be many with not just physical, but mental injuries from this attack, and I hope they get all the help and support they need.

This problem of terrorism stems from inequality in society, and marginalised, disenfranchised individuals. Jihad gives them the platform, terrorist networks give them the means. You can't fight an idea, the concept of Jihad will always be there, but there are many other ideas that people will kill each other over, religion, or just as bad, probably worse ,the idea of the nation state.

As well as dismantling the networks, breaking up cells we need to work towards a more balanced, fairer and inclusive society. These attacks are done to provoke a reaction, to fracture society. We can't give them that reaction, we can't let them win.

Makes me want to vomit that on the one hand we have repugnant slaughter within our shores of women and children by Islamic extremists, and on the other the likes of May and Trump making state visits to Saudi Arabia to sign multi-billion dollar arms deals.

Whenever any of these atrocities happen, muslims do speak out.

They always do. Muslims demonstrated on Westminster Bridge a few months ago.

You always seem to miss them though.

This. One country in particular is spreading this kind of twisted version of Islam. And it's Saudi Arabia.

And all our Governments, whether Labour or Conservative, suck up to them. I'm not making a party political point, they both do it. America as well, no matter who is in charge.

Time it stopped.

We welcome these people in and give them comfortable, free, peaceful lives they never would have dreamed of in their war torn homelands. They get put in decent housing and are welcome to the same rights and freedoms as anyone else in this country. They can use our schools and our hospitals and have all the perks living in 21st century Britain gives you. And nobody minds because most are law abiding people quietly going about their normal lives.

To somehow turn this around and blame Britain and British society for some batshit crazy bastard strapping a bomb to himself and killing a load of kids because his c unt of an imaginary God told him to is not the answer.

The creatures outside looked from pig to man, and from man to pig, and from pig to man again; but already it was impossible to say which was which.

Or,. you know, remove those who preach hate from Britain. Remove those who indoctrinate the vulnerable especially in prisons. Work on dealing with those unwilling to even learn English, unwilling to accept British norms and values - breeding grounds for extremism, bringing over unacceptable views from certain parts of the world.

It's rarely the first generation immigrants that are the problem though is it. It's the second generation, those born here and have never experienced how bad it can be elsewhere. There are plenty of British whose family have been here many many generations who feel disenfranchised, or marginalised. They might be drawn to different ideologies, like the far right or left, which don't have the same ready made networks or drive for recruitment.

It's simple, if you are doing well in life and happy, you don't do this kind of thing. And I wasn't bashing British society, we have a very fair and inclusive society at the moment, and we shouldn't surrender that. It is more a comment on inequality, which is getting worse in this country, with this being one of the consequences of that.

I don't see how that is "or", it's part of dismantling terror network. Those who come here to spread hate or carry out acts of terror should be sent back. Those who want to be here should be helped to integrate. The problem is, that ideas cross borders no matter how strict they are, especially in this digital age.

Agree about the digital age.

The problem is, any intelligence counter-measures on that score get shot down for "invasion of privacy", showing ignorance of what is looked for by intelligence services ( hint; what you ate for tea is neither interesting nor important ).

The talks of lax security has made me appreciate how lucky we were that nothing happened at the euros last summer. Almost every game someone managed to sneak in a flare, it could have easily been a bomb or small weapon.

Any talk of Labour sneaking a victory at the GE ended last night.

Utter b*llocks. Is your view based on how Jeremy "helped" the IRA?
I have no faith in Teresa may. All she wants to do is feather her mates nest in big business. As if any government could have stopped last nights attack.

Let's not politicize this incident please.
