Several days ago, I wrote about the loss of my dog "Dixie" and received many messages of condolence, for which I was most grateful.
As I thought about that thread, I remembered that I had kind words from not only friends, but strangers to me. I was most impressed by kind and considerate messages from one or two posters with whom I have engaged in some snappy disagreements on different matters.
That they were so generous and thoughtful as to ignore those disagreements to let a fellow dog lover know that they cared was an impressively touching gesture.

Dogs are members of the family and their loss is a hammer blow. They offer unconditional love which is not always the case with others.

Sorry to hear about your dog, its devastating how the loss of a dog can affect you.
I love dogs, any dog big or small they are just great!
I don't have this attachment to a cat, I don't know why people say your either a cat or a dog person.
I've had lots of dogs my first was an afghan hound Shadrach, amazingly stupid dog,
I honestly remember the feeling when I had to say goodbye to my collie Big Bill( all the other kids used to call him), he went everywhere with me as a child, I once painted him green as I didn't like his colour anymore. I could have done anything to the dog he would have never snapped at me.
