44:08s: QUOTE: " The French, Scots and others were looking to unbalance the English and Owain offered them a chance to do it through supporting an idependant Wales".
Oh bless, just as stupid then as what they are now, they were still dreaming even as far back as the 1,400's!
There again? The Welsh Nats and their romanticism for all them swords, spears, castles and horses regresses Wales back in time, which I guess is not too disimilar to what the Cardiff Bay lot have been doing anyhow since devolution started anyhow.
Can a horse do more than 20mph without paying a future toll for doing so?
Argus!

Unfortunately the young well educated ambitious are forced to leave Wales .
Happens in all poor areas ,mainly rural. Evidenced in France where rural properties can be had for next to nothing. That’s because ,there is nothing there unless you are minted and secure
That old Chinese saying, how about saying lies posted on a football forum can never erase true historic facts? Maybe you should aim for the truth? because you don't really seem to know the Welsh background as much as you say.

Very resilient.
Look at the damage done to the languages in Scotland and Ireland. Not so in Cymru.
There are many far flung examples of the British Empire abusing the indigenous people. Robbery and cultural assimilation.
And English gentry passing laws in London about Wales, many centuries ago ,is just irrelevent - other to underscore my point. Wales is still a nation and that in itself a remarkable story.
Likewise Ukraine is not Russian just because Russia says it is. It never will be.

Wales did not exist before the 10th Century. Even then is was just a collection of local tribes with no overall leader. History will tell you that. Fortunately most people in Wales are happy to remain in a United Kingdom and they certainly don't want to be ruled by an undemocratic EU.

Most of the damage done to the language was caused by mass immigration from England into Scotland/wales as people sought work in the coal mines/cooper works/docks etc with the boom of the Industrial Revolution. If you imagine wales had a population of around half a million in 1750. Most of those would have been welsh speakers. By 1800 that population had doubled mostly from people moving from England. Then doubled again by 1851. This is why the highly populated areas such as the M4 corridor, the valleys, all the industrial and mining areas are predominantly English speaking whilst welsh speaking is confined to the more rural, countryside areas.

I’d never thought of that.
Makes perfect sense 👍

The majority of the welsh princes willingly bent the knee to the English crown in the same way the English crown bent the knee to the french crown.
