Joined us from Vauxhall Conference Wrexham in the summer of 2010.
I know for a fact 2 years ago he was on 40 k a week. Today no doubt he is on significantly more.
He has not scored a single league or cup goal in the Football league or indeed the Premier league in well over 6 years !! That is a pretty damning statistic. Most full backs chip in with a goal or two now and then some considerably more.
Ok some people will argue that he is in the team to defend, but is he effective at that ?
I will concede he did get one in the Euros for Wales but even then he it took him 2 attempts.
Maybe he will prove a point on Saturday and score. That will give me great pleasure. After all we have waited long enough.

I have it on good authority Fabianski is on 100k a week. However he hardly threatens to score....

Maybe by the time Fabianski has been with us for over 6 years he will.

Served our Club well.

Getting a lot of stick at the moment, much of it undeserved.

alan tate scored 4 goals for us in the 11 years he was here.

is this an equally pointless stat as OP's?

Almost got us an injury-time equaliser at OT last time we were there.

Exactly. Completely irrelevant bollox. May as well quote the number of corner kicks or penalties he's taken. 👍🏻

Nige, he hasn't come back to anywhere near the player he was before his injury, barring the odd games, played well last week against Sunderland, but its a struggle to think of another game where I can see that he did well in, bits of games yes but not the whole game, think is the fullbacks game as moved on, we see that every week they are for want of a better word wing backs, Ben Davies excelled for us in doing that, I know the following are very good players, but you get my meaning, Danny Rose, Kyle Walker, Bacary Sagna, Clyne, Milner has moved there from playing on the wing Valencia and Young are all either converted full backs or have an attacking mindset, Taylor hasn't.

He seems more worried about his weekly haircuts than his football. What does he bring to the team?

He isn't an attacking player whatsoever
He is a soft defender that rarely puts his body on the line
Drops his head when we go behind
Hardly pressures the opposition ball carrier
Can't put in a cross
Can't stop a cross from coming in
Very slow at tracking back
Weak at throw ins
Rarely competes in the air (have a look at Rondon's goals)

But is a favourite of Jenkins, the media and seemingly all managers post-Laudrup. I just don't get it??

Didn't know Vincent Tan was on here. Didn't he have a moan about their keeper not scoring?

Good point about his injury

But he's been a steady and consistent, albeit unspectacular, performer down the years for us. It's easy to be critical. Those other players you mentioned are worth £10m plus in most cases. Taylor was a free transfer wasn't he? Or may be £100,000 can't recall.

Goals win matches. This is a relevant statistic even for a full back.I'm amazed people find this abysmal record acceptable.

Loyalty works both ways. He and his agent were angling for a move before his serious injury. We stuck by him then and rightly so. But as for this loyal servant crap speechless.

By comparison Ben Davies scored 3 goals in 2 years for us.
My intention was not to jump on the Taylor bandwagon. I am not one to come on a public forum normally and criticise one of our players.
A further point that concerns me though with Neil Taylor is that he is prone to dangerous play. He did it in the first minute of the play off final at Forest and normally that would have cost a team dearly. He did it in a recent match for Wales that caused injury to the opponent. Again in the recent match at Tottenham it seems he committed a similar challenge on Kyle Walker. Must add did not see the incident but commentators on radio reckoned it should have been a red card.
A needless red card could cost us a game and ultimately our place in the Premier league.

Ashley Cole played 107 games for England and Gary Neville 85 games - and not a single goal at international level between them - sh*te! So that must make Tayls a better player than either of them, we're lucky to have him.

You can't judge defenders on goal scoring record, you just can't. Nice to have if they're a specialist free kick taker or something. CB's get more as they are often in the box for set pieces. Neil is often the one back on the halfway line.

Quite right.

Rarely a full back like Leighton Baines has excellent dead ball skills but complaining about lack of goals from a left back is like complaining that a traffic policeman hasn't arrested any heroine dealers. It comes into the anything is a bonus category.

He shouldn't be in our first team full stop. It's not nice that he is getting such stick but at the end of the day this is our future as a premier league footballing team at stake and we just aren't going to do that with such a weak defence. Teams are targeting us on our left side and it's got to the point where I think if we don't really spend in this position then we are down. I just can't see it any other way. Tabanou was brought in over a year ago to try and push Taylor and that turned out to be a shambles and still the board unbelievably chose not to really spend on a quality left back. Kingsley is ok but come on...

Is the correct answer.

If he wasn't such a big time pr*ck (Guidolin V Chelsea) then he wouldn't get half as much stick

Aye, I did say they are better players and invariably worth more, but they are premier players, Taylor has done well for us. but is time has come and gone. in the position he plays he gets found out far to often, it obviously happens with Rangel, but he does give us more in games for me, but he's come to the end to he's braver that Taylor though you can see it.
