Nail meet head.

Before kickoff crossing wasn't going be our path to a goal today given Southampton's height... it was even clearer after 20 minutes.

do yourself a favour and check out his first goal from today's derby, starts the attack with a rabona and finishes it chipping the goalie.
the guy is god for us long suffering Melbourne Heart/City fans.

I can't believe its taken people so long for the penny to drop about how we find ourselves where we are due to those leading us. Theres been this repeated rebuttal of criticism for people simply due to what they did a decade ago... what have you done for me lately?
The club's commercial department has been a joke since at least the second season in the PL (i guess we should forgive any first year learning curves), the accounts posted in the other threads show it all, we are doing nothing to generate any cash flow and relying upon gate receipts, player sales and TV money.
The irony of all this is some people are said to want to sell their shares and cash in, yet rather than taking jobs they're clearly not qualified for (other than maybe ego), they'd have been more likely to grow their share value and possibly attract a buyer if they'd employed someone who had the requisite experience and knowledge to run a sporting club in a billion dollar league. The gulf between the skill set of a local businessman v. an international sporting team/organisation is vast... anyone who says otherwise is taking the p.
For me, my first concerns came in Krasnador. It was quite clear from the way that some in the clubs hierarchy acted on and viewed that trip, that it was all a bit of a jolly. I doubt key execs in other teams would have been acting in the same way if/when they have the opportunity to be involved in Euro campaigns.
Its all well and good to appreciate what people did a decade ago (thought that of course opens another argument as to who should be credited for what), but the simple fact is that we find ourselves where we are now because we haven't had the right people in the right jobs during our time in the PL. Its a shame. But it also makes me worry about what happens if we go down.... do the same execs think, 'Well we survived multiple years in the PL, we can handle running the club in the Championship, continue on as is......". If so, I'm frightened, when you go down to the Championship nothing is guaranteed and with the significant player turnover for a freshly relegated club, if you can't get your house in order off the pitch, there are many examples of the team not sticking around long in the Champ.

Heading up tomorrow morning, any idea where Jacks are planning to have a beer pre-game?

Prague Derby (NSR)
at 12:47 17 Sep 2014

This wont really help you as we play away that weekend, but for anyone looking for czech top flight football in Prague i'd suggesting going to the dolicek to watch the mighty klokani, bohemians 1905. the history of the club, especially the last 10 years would be an interesting read for a lot of Jack fans too.

The Dolicek is a proper old school ground and our terrace being the most active in the league.... its a throwback to old school football passion.

You'd want to be quick though, owners of our land are trying to kick us out at end of November (local council announced a press conference for tomorrow to see if theyll save our butts) and we may be shipped back to slavia/plzen which loses the atmosphere that makes our games so unique.

i'm moving to Prague in February with my czech girlfriend, so if anyone's reading this after that date hit me up if you want to go to a local game or need to catch a swans game in a pub while youre there

I was at the game. Thought about whether to respond or not. Figured, its probably fair to give both sides of the story.
We were definitely acknowledged by some of the players, not sure whether it was just because these three felt responsible but Vorm, Canas and Davies all made numerous and repeated gestures to the fans. I also remember Dyer and one other making an effort to come off the bench and acknowledge us. That was pretty much the extent of it though.
I think i know who your mate was and im pretty sure he wasn't without blame in the incident where he got beat up. Stealing the scarves they want to swap before you jump on the bus post game probably isnt the best way to promote the club's fans eithers.
The main reason i want to say something is because there were others of us who spent the majority of the 48hrs with their ultras and didnt have a single issue. in fact, they couldnt have been more welcoming of us. KubanLad and his mates were brilliant, we had a great time because of their hospitality and suggestions.
It probably helps though when you don't just treat the away trip like one big booze up...maybe its a cultural thing... but i wonder how the guy who missed the game from being in hospital for alcohol poisoning felt, or the one who slept/spewed in his seat for the first 70 minutes, or the possessed woman who looked like she was straight out of the Exorcist for 90 minutes.
As for the guy not getting much love from them in hotel, it probably didn't help that he ran up to Chico as soon as they walked in the door, pint in hand and start yabbering at him... from the look on Chico's face, it was pretty obvious he had nfi what was going, understandable given im sure he stills knows bugger all english, let along drunk exciteable rapidly spoken slang. Plus i dont begrudge the fans after a deflating finish (and they all looked pissed) and when theyre heading straight to the restaurant to refuel, they may not be in the chirpiest mood. That said, others had their photos taken with Laudrup and Trundle at the time... so maybe your mate should just think about his general delivery and behaviour next time.
But im sure he wont and im sure someone will probably tell me im wrong for x, y or z reason. I'm not a killjoy but it was kind of embarassing and cringeworthy at some points to see how some were representing us.

I was at the game and may have jinxed us by repeatedly asking where the "super sub" was.

I managed to catch highlights of Kuban's derby game on the Sunday and he turned the game for them in that one as well.

As soon as he came on he was sprinting around, chasing down everything and firing up the crowd. Im impressed with the lad, only 24 apparently.
