Curious comparison with 2018-19…? 16:56 - Dec 8 with 770 viewsloftus77

Looking at this season so far, I can’t help but notice (while I should be working....) an odd comparison with the Shteeve season of 18-19.

Then, as now, our record after 19 games was W8 D4 L7. This included a 7-1 drubbing in the third game of both seasons in the Midlands. Preston were also our opening day opponents that year too.

FTR I sincerely hope any other spurious comparisons with that season end right here, right now!

I also hope that this season doesn't continue to follow that one's form.

Edit. QPR won 2 FA Cup matches - this can be repeated

That's beginning to shape up like the remarkable coincidences between the assassinations of Abe Lincoln and JFK!

Well done the OP, top sleuthing.

The big issue that year was Schteve ran the bloody starting 11 on take off power for the first six months. Never changed anything. Same 11 over and over again. And so, come mid January, they were absolutely shattered and fell off a cliff.

Stephan hasn't done that, so fingers crossed the results start to diverge a little in the new year.

I just noticed too. It is getting spooky.

Glad to see that Clive has noted that unlike Shteeve, Stephan has rotated the team more, so hopefully they won't run out of steam in 2026.

Hopefully our head of cycling proficiency has got them on a slow burn fitness plan, so we should start to see the rewards of our favourite players as we getting into the busy winter period.

That is when he's not publicly castigating our young talent in front of his compatriots in the canteen
