75/76 Event 20:26 - Feb 9 with 2970 viewsRsinWales

I am really looking forward to meeting the legends - Parkes, Gillard, Francis and Thomas at the club event next week. Heroes of my youth. I used to roll my socks down to feel more like Dave Thomas when I played for my school!

I see that it has now sold out. Anyone else from on here going?

Yep.
I read in some of the adverts for the event that some other team members other than the four mentioned, will be in attendance too. Hope that's true

I'm going and for those who get there early we're hoping to have on the big screen videos of that season which includes goals from games against Norwich and Newcastle at home, not seen for 50 years plus 20 minutes of highlights from the Liverpool home game which again we don't think has been seen for many years.

They are also going to stream the event on QPR+ so those without tickets can still see it

That's fantastic news about streaming for your expat fan like me.

Still remember my younger brother who was nine at the time crying when result came through of Liverpool winning their game in hand.

And we've never been in that position again.

Read Don Masson book recently and it's really good on that season. Dave Thomas book good also. You Rs!

230 tickets sold.

In addition to the 4 players onstage all of the rest of the 1975/6 squad plus the families of Dave Clement, Mick Leach, John Hollins, Stan Bowles etc have all been invited plus people like Michael Wale.

I am sure it'll be a very good night.

That's great to hear. I assumed it was just the four of them, but to meet some of the others will be an added bonus.

Dave B - what time are the videos being shown?

The plan is to show highlights of the season from when the doors open until the event starts. We had a few other videos for during the event as well.

It'll take a few weeks but I'll get them all on youtube eventually.

I’ve always wondered why the full highlights of the Liverpool home game have never been seen as it was the main game on match of the day. and why it wasn’t included on one of the club’s own dvd releases. Someone said it only existed in black and white.

Should be a good night.

They didn’t win their game in hand!

They engineered their ‘win’ by various shenanigans such as having their game a week later, and Wolves, funnily enough, mysteriously falling over after being 2-0 up at half time.

If it smells, it smells, and this stank.

QPR were robbed, simple as!

I stood on the pitch that wonderful day at HQ, watching shirts and boots etc being thrown to the fans from the SAR side.

I’m 61 in 3 more days, and although I saw those wonderful days, I’m resolved to not seeing the like, ever again. Sad really!

Michael Wale must be well into his 80s by now. (I'm loving his LinkedIn photo - he looks like the real Dr Who!)

They are in colour. Another QPR fan called RIk bought the highlights from the BBC years ago but didn't have the technology to get it on youtube so he very kindly lent me a number of his dvd's with some real QPR treasures so they can be seem by a wider audience.

The whole 20 mins of highlights of the Liverpool game is a joy to watch, I'd never seen it before. Also goals from Newcastle and Norwich at home plus highlights of Man Utd away from that season.

I'll post them all on here when I've uploaded them as I'm sure a few of you would enjoy them.

Maybe, maybe not. Wolves were only 1-0 up, not 2, and then Liverpool scored 3 in the last 15 minutes. Also, Wolves were relegated as a result of the loss, so unlikely they ‘threw’ the match.
But yes, Liverpool ‘requested’ a postponement from their original April fixture, as a couple of their players were on International duty, so obviously that shouldn’t have been allowed to happen.

QPR were originally due to play West Ham after the Leeds game but we moved it to January as we were both out of the FA Cup. Played on a bog of a pitch with Stan Bowles missing we lost 1-0. If we hadn't moved that game then we'd have had the chance to win the league at West Ham and the Wolves v Liverpool game wouldn't have mattered.

Once around I think, I gave them 58 mins of footage so should finish just as the players take the stage

I'll stick it all on youtube next week though so people can see it

Brilliant. Well done Dave.

I have seen a few clips and will watch the full show over the weekend.Glad it all went well and was well attended.

One of my earliest memories as an eight year old was crying my eyes out listening to radio two commentary on the last Liverpool game.

My dad consoled me that they would do it next year. F**k. That didn't exactly come to pass !!!

If that was you that put the video footage together you did a great job.i really enjoyed that especially the stuff that hasn’t been shown before (though what happened to the 20 min highlights of Liverpool game? Hopefully we still get to see it sometime.)

Parkes was in great form, and loved seeing Dave Thomas there.
