Another one coerced into apologising for saying it as it is (apart from his population figures which were wrong).

Hmm

I was rather interested in visiting Marylebone, for a relatively small area there are a lot of places of interest to visit within walking distance e.g. Madame Tussauds, John Lennon's/Jimmy Hendrix's residence, Joe Strummers former flat, Sex Pistols Malcolm McClaren's/Steve Jones/Paul Cooks former flat. Monopoly game landmark Marylebone Station, Baker Street of Gerry Raffety song and Sherlock Holmes fame etc.

I am however put off by the pick-pocket, robbery and knife crime reputation, if I go it'll be a case of being 'switched on' enough to conceal anything of value. And never a case of speaking on a pavement whilst using a mobile phone in full sight, when too close to a road to become an easy target for a passing e-bike or scooter thief.

I wish you well!

You'll be fine ...

Nice to visit for a short break as there's always things to do and see but living there is a different kettle of fish entirely.

My sister moved there in the early 80s, I moved in the 90s and last worked there in 2020.

I think I saw and enjoyed the best of it but by 2004 I was done living in it.

I'd go back there to work if I had to and it's likely I will at some point, but not 5 days a week - it would have to be hybrid - just dealing with the chaos, sheer volume of people and of course having one eye constantly looking for something /someone kicking off.

It drains you day in and day out...

I've variously described it as a "termite colony with luggage", an "open air lunatic asylum" or "the Tower of Babel on steroids..."

It's not an age thing either because I hear a lot from people a lot younger than me who feel the same.

I used to work in Bond Street for a while and the after work pub crawl from there up through Marylebone to Baker St was wonderful on a summer's evening...

Sad to see The Pontefract Castle on that route where we stopped off on our way to Wembley in 2011 has closed down. Another old haunt gone...

Just don't be a Christian preacher in Whitechapel , even the police say you could be assaulted.

Regardless of what he said, and that goes in all terms no matter what or who you are, alleged left or right, or go where you want party, he should have told them to do one.

What's the point of having "F*ck You!" money if you don't say "F*ck You?"

You cannot apologise or take a backward step with these people. To do so is tantamount to an admission of guilt and he did nothing other than state an opinion, which is still, despite the efforts of some, not illegal in the UK.

Rupert Lowe has been better at dealing with the howls of complaint so far.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

IMO Lowe has certainly shown Reform how it should be done the only problem imo he's about 5 years too late.

Don't get me wrong, I have a lot of issues with Rupert Lowe. His approach has emboldened some nasty pieces of work (like Steve Laws) and they need to be slapped down.

It is encouraging however to see a political leader unafraid to state an opinion. To not care about the usual smears from cowards and idiots that have been so successful in the last couple of decades.

Their power is waning, and Ratcliffe giving into them will only slow that effect.

That phrase "This is a Muslim area" is what stood out for me in the original clip. More positively, I like Jeff Banks' style and the ambience of the era that he mentions. The idea of being "suited and booted" to attend live jazz events really appeals to me.

https://web.facebook.com/jbank

We have quite a good local jazz scene in Swansea, but only a minority make the effort to dress up these days (and the women more than the men). Looking at the old photos there was a time when nearly all the guys (musicians and audience) wore a jacket and tie. In the old days of the jazz scene this applied to people of various ethnicities, and it is ironical that a newer version of "concentrated" diversity is sweeping away this kind of integrated club/pub-based culture and music in certain urban enclaves. I can report, however, that some of the local Albanian gangsters do seem to attend gigs in a certain Swansea pub.

Should there be Muslim schools in the UK? There are about 200
Should there be Jewish schools in the UK? There are about 150
Why are all those children not in mixed faith schools?
Why are there Football leagues with only Muslim or Jewish players?

Why is this allowed, yet if you stopped one of those kids, Muslim or Jewish, attending a normal, run of the mill school, there would be repercussions of the highest order.

When I worked in London over 40 years ago, a Jewish friend asked if I wanted to join their Thursday night football team. We arrived, got in the changing rooms, I was asked my religion, and then stopped from playing. My mate didn’t know it was a closed shop.
That to me is wrong. Totally wrong. Yet it’s allowed to happen even today.

Let’s have a level playing field.

Swansea Indepenent Poster Of The Year 2021. Dr P / Mart66 / Roathie / Parlay / E20/ Duffle was 2nd, but he is deluded and thinks in his little twisted brain that he won. Poor sod. We let him win this year, as he has cried for a whole year. His 14 usernames, bless his cotton socks.

I agree totally
There should be no religious schools of any persuasion
It just teaches bigotry and intolerance full stop

Jews Muslims should give their heads a wobble as their faith is just that
An unprovable fairy story that is just believed
Christians too , your God is no more valid than Allah or Jehovah or anyone else

Mormons, where are those golden plates
As for JWs , just where to start

Two hrs ago , approached by a pair of JWs in Shaftesbury Ave and asked if I wanted a free bible course
I’m afraid thirty seconds of perch invective led to one of them getting close to tears
Ovid have knocked the bloke out there and then
Kent’s
