LEROY! LEROY! on 15:49 - Dec 30 with 2459 views | CiderwithRsie | Actually I quite like the idea of a way of rewarding people for doing good stuff that doesn't involve giving them cash or power. Like "Forever Rs" but for the whole country. Unfortunately it's spoiled by being used to reward toadies and people who've been rewarded quite well enough anyway. Why Geoffrey Clifton-Brown gets a knighthood for being MP for the Cotswolds, when literally any of us could get elected MP for the Cotswolds if we were the Tory candidate, and when he's had a fat salary for 21 years for doing it; while Mark Prince overcomes a dreadful tragedy and turns it into good through working his socks off, and gets a "lesser" award is beyond me. And calling anything "of the British Empire" in 2018 makes the whole country look a joke IMO. Still: well done Mark Prince, I hope he enjoys it. | | | |
