General anaesthetic 21:01 - Mar 4 with 220 views | Lala | My daughter has a kidney op on Wednesday. Neither of my girls have been put to sleep before. Have anaesthetic anxiety now, another to add to the list. Will be glad when it’s over. Any reassurances appreciated

General anaesthetic on 21:05 - Mar 4 with 212 views | spell_chekker | Modern anesthetics are much better, you recover quickly and feel much less groggy and sick when you wake up. When I was a kid I used to have a recurring dream about being operated on and waking up in the middle of it. Oooops

General anaesthetic on 21:07 - Mar 4 with 209 views | Lala | Ye ooops. She will be fine, she has anxiety too, my fault probably. Anxiety hinders anaesthetic I hear and they ask you about it in pre op questions, why is that 🤔

General anaesthetic on 21:20 - Mar 4 with 197 views | spell_chekker | They ask you a few basic questions before they put you under. Your name and the nature of the operation type questions. It's just to make sure they don't whip out the wrong bits. There's a big team of experts in the operating theatre. Everything's triple checked. It's really quite impressive in there - hygiene and modern. It's all top notch and very thorough. I imagine she's already met the surgeon? It's to be recommended if not, that'll surely put minds at ease.

General anaesthetic on 21:24 - Mar 4 with 192 views | Lala | She hasn’t met the surgeon, we will Wednesday morning. It’s at Fullwood private hospital only because the NHS can’t cope. I am super scared but it will be fine. Won’t be posting much Tuesday Wednesday but back with avengence Thursday 👠

xx on 21:26 - Mar 4 with 183 views | basilrobbiereborn | I'm an expert - they are really, really effective these days. Put you out in no time. I was mildly disorientated and/or nauseous a couple of times when I came round, but nothing too bad and it soon passes. They do try hard to put you at your ease as well.

General anaesthetic on 21:32 - Mar 4 with 177 views | Lala | Thanks Robbie I’m just worried she won’t wake up again, but that’s my anxiety and deep down I know that. When it’s over I will be so relieved and will celebrate big time. I know that’s irrational but it is what it is.

General anaesthetic on 07:54 - Mar 5 with 141 views | spudgun | I understand your anxiety but have had half a dozen operations, and you have absolutely nothing to worry about. Have not had one bad experience and I have always found NHS staff to be reassuringly professional and competent...
