My mum is in a rest home there so I see the place regularly. Obviously it has suffered a decline in the High Street typical of many small towns, and has been badly affected over the decades in losing big employers - P&O, B&I, Archibell Greenwood, and obviously the decline in the fishing trade.
Despite the outward grimness of some of the younger inhabitants, I find there is still a community feel and friendliness in the older age groups due of the close-knit nature of the town.
Admittedly it is a little shabby and has a down-trodden feel at the top of town, but the sea front is fantastic from the ferry to the golf course, and many areas of the town are tidy and well-kept.
Rarely socialise there nowadays, but it was a great town to grow up in in the 70`s....

My very best pal is from Fleetwood so that’s a big plus from me.
Also parked up opposite the Euston admiring the view across the water with a cup of tea and piece of fruitcake from the little kiosk there is a quality chill out experience.
The beach opposite the Mount is far better than any Blackpool has to offer in my opinion too.
when the monkey is high you do not stare you do not stare 🥴
There used to be a shop across the road from my junior school that sold Vimto (pronounced vimpto) lollies and hot parched peas. I often took my children back to Fleetwood to sample the delights. Sadly it’s closed down now after being open 50 years plus.
Here’s to Rimmers 🥂
We’ve got Simon Sadler

It was the year before when I took my girls away. The waters once outside the marina were bloody awful. To put it mildly after starting off top deck at the helm I ended up being helped downstairs by my daughter and two delightfully helpful Spaniards as anxiety took over. I now, do not do boats, ferries or very rainy days.
Bit of insight below, honestly 😳

I also got knocked over by waves whilst splashing around in the sea at Malgrat and every time I tried to get back up my bikini bottoms kept falling down 😆 so I chose to stay put and nearly drown instead.
Other than that it was an excellent holiday 😊
I’m going to Madrid this year ðŸ™

Yup, had the horror ferry crossing to the IoM as well.

Was thinking about Rimmers funnily enough the other day - and not in a good way!
There was actually two sweet shops virtually side by side opposite the school (which I went to as well), one of which was Rimmers.
Looking back, I was thinking they were like parasitical drug dealers outside the school gates, separating children from their money in return for unhealthy, teeth-rotting rubbish. I think both were run by gangsta grans.
Of course, at the time, I spent my money in their as much as anyone; sarsaparilla lollies being a favourite of the day as I remember...
And those flying saucer things that made your eyes wobble when they dissolved into your mouth...
