Carefully orchestrated defeat with the added design of completely ostracising those that are suspect in attitude & talent, those that are not up to the premier league as it is fought in this day & age. Of course, the Spurs offenders could have been made to repent, but we really want out of this Milk Cup (or whatever it’s called these days) don’t we. Better to destroy the confidence of the rest in the process before it’s too late.

That is not to excuse the inexplicable missing man-management, fitness levels, preparation and tea-cups from our ‘boss’. Excuse my sarcasm but why are we surprised to see R’s struggling - didn’t we watch Harry at work for most of last season? Under the current set-up, 6 wins in the big boys league this season will be a surprise. Strap yourselves in.

Our Arry knows what he is doing, these plans and strategies and forward thinking is for the younger managers. Old Arry knows if you cobble some players together it will come good eventually. Sod having a clear vision on the right team, formation, and set pieces, leave that for the youngsters. Just need more players, chuck a few more players into the mix, not sure yet what position we play them, whether they are any better than what we have, but good old Tone will back him. Warnock had a plan, a basic one, not sophisticated, but at least had some idea of his best team and how they would play. old Arry never looks any further forward than the next game, the players look unfit, unorganised, and de-motivated. Something has gone badly wrong, and I predict our points tally won't be in could figures by Christmas, call me a pessimist, but I predict a disaster this season, come on Glenn, sit down with the old boy and see if he has thought it all through, is there a cunning plan!!

Match rating 8 because of its importance and the 3 points

Sunderland desperately wanted something from this game

We have to learn how to take control of games, last 10 mins was like a Wembley replay.

Fer has to be fit enough for 95 mins.

One of our most complete performances in the Premier League - clinical and brilliant finishing and top quality performances all round

Both teams pass the ball well we were decent except for a 10 minute spell

Great all round performance from the whole team. Fer and Mutch stepped up to the plate at last and showed why we bought them. The dynamic duo of Hoilett and Phillips running at their defence had them in sixes and sevens at times and Barton and Mutch ran the middle of the park. Isla looked liked he enjoyed himself although his tendency to bomb forward at any given opportunity sometimes left a gap at the back but he seemed to calm down after an hour. The BEAST that is Caulker and his sidekick Rio did a great job stemming the tide and Clint Hill gave everything as usual. A clean was a very welcome return on the effort put in by every one of them. No longer bottom and our next game is against a side below us so onwards and upwards !!

Did we just come back from losing to win a match?? We reacted positively from going a goal down which was encouraging. Played much better with a higher tempo 2nd half. Hammers didn't have a sniff. Good goal from Pelle. Was unlucky to have one ruled offside earlier. Should do a lot for his confidence. Forster made a great save from Vaz Te at close range. Thumbs up to the travelling support too.

Overall, a good win against a Hammers side that admittedly lacked a few regulars. Nice to get one over Big Sam at last. Maybe he should stick to the long ball.. Pity there is now the international break as it may lead to a loss of momentum for us. Still, 3 points woohoo!

P.S did anybody think Morgans celebrations were a bit muted??

I agree that Morgan's first goal barely raised a smile to his lips but he did seem to enjoy the second and his subsequent comments on Sky Sports (which I obviously didn't see but have subsequently read) suggests that he's here for this season at least.
Other points to note - Graziano Pelle looked a completely different player to the one who faced WBA. Steven Davies seems to be back to his energetic best. It was a bit difficult to rate our defence as they had very little to do. Bertrand looks to fit in well with Tadic. How Clyne missed out on an England place is beyond me.
The Hammers went from poor to bad to absolutely clueless. I doubt that such a heartless second half performance has ever been seen before at the Boleyn. Allardyce won't let them get away with that. Extra training tomorrow.
On the downside, just like at Millwall midweek, although we played well up to their penalty area, in the first half we generally looked as though a goal was beyond us. We must start games as we finished today.
Shane Long is unfortunate in being played out of position. He harried and was a nuisance to West Ham but we are not likely to see him at his best until he plays alongside Pelle and we buy or loan a winger. Redmond provided an assist today. We have the money. It's a no-brainer.

Bringing on those two useless strikers after the Bantams scored was like throwing the towel in!

Well done Fenelon for trying though.
