Then there's the Chilean world cup wing/right back Mauricio Islas and a promising South Korean Yun Suk-Young who also didn't look out of place at the last World Cup finding his feet. Richard Dunne fingers crossed had a final good season in him after doing so much to get us up and then the cherry-on-top would be Rio as much to guide, coach and mentor - a la Wilkins with Sir Les - as to play.
My mate spluttered..he told me to catch onto myself.. any fool would know Rio Ferdinand was knackered,kaput,no longer fit-for-purpose...once a back goes,it's gone for ever (ask Gerry Francis who has to this day,now aged 64,to stick to tedious morning stretching regime to ward off chronic back pain), and in short Rio was an utterly utterly ridiculous purchase.
