Reasons to be optimistic 13:12 - Jan 6 with 1709 viewsMancR

Since the turn of the millennium, QPR have won three out of 27 FA Cup proper games (D8 L15). Indeed, of teams to play 10 or more games in the competition in that time, QPR have the worst win percentage (11.1%).
Only Plymouth (48) have been eliminated from the FA Cup third round more often than QPR (47) in the competition's history.

From the BBC 😰

Sutton Utd have won more FA Cup games this season than we have in 16 seasons.

To be honest I was surprised our win % was actually so high!

And all our last 4 FACup wins (since '96) have come after replays ! We've not won at the 1st attempt in 20 years !! Who can name all 4 ??

So what you're saying is, all we can really look forward to, this year, is equalling that record? We actually have to wait until next year to break it? And there was I about to go getting all excited about another record breaking year! *sigh*

"Only Plymouth (48) have been eliminated from the FA Cup third round more often than QPR (47) in the competition's history".

Oddly...the start of our rot was instigated by Ian Holloway who lost in the first/third round for five consecutive seasons. It took a further 5 before we finally won a match.

Ironically Plymouth's best ever run in the cup was under Ian Holloway...

I can't be arsed to look it up but can someone tell us when was the last time QPR won an FA Cup tie without the need of a ball ache replay? I would guess over 20 years ago?

Against Tranmere away in January 1996. We won 2-0.

Hideous. It's got so bad that the ineptness and disdain for this competition is ingrained to the very foundations of the club. I see the club are already getting their excuses in with the injury up date today. Such a shame.

I was at that game, and I'm going tomorrow, so there's a good omen.

Mind you I was also at Ewood Park, Arsenal, Sheffield Utd, MK Dons, Notts Forest etc. Etc.

(Missed Vauxhall Motors though thankfully)

Does anyone know if it's possible to be relegated from the FA Cup?

Of course, after reading Clive's preview it was Barnsley in the 4th round in '97 and THAT goal In my defence, that was the last time we won a third round tie without a replay

I'm sure that was the game where their PA announcer got sacked for 'looking forward to meeting us again in Division One next year' or something? He wasn't wrong, sadly..

I was at that game as well and like a prat was pointing to my Premier League badge on my away shirt to the Tranmere fans on our right as we scored the second goal. We were back a few months later in the league

I remember them singing "Going down, going down" to us then losing the plot massively when we started back with"You're going to lose in the play offs" as they had done for about the last five years.
They were right, we were wrong, they finished 13th
