Happy League 2025/26 Week 14 (of 38) - Deadline Saturday 1st November 15.00 21:49 - Oct 25 with 3048 viewsmfb_cufc

Week 13 results

CHELSEA 1 SUNDERLAND 2

Sunderland moved into second place in the Premier League as winger Chemsdine Talbi scored a 94th-minute winner to stun Chelsea. No points for anyone from this game, as 22 predicted a win for Chelsea, with 11 going for a 2-0 in what was the weeks most predicted score.

COVENTRY CITY 3 WATFORD 1
Coventry cemented top spot in the Championship and further enhanced their status as English football's most potent attacking force with this win against 10-man Watford. Everyone predicted a win for Coventry, with a super 6 having it spot-on.

IPSWICH TOWN 1 WEST BROMWICH ALBION 0
Kieran McKenna's substitutions paid off as Jack Clarke bagged a late winner with his fifth goal of the season, as West Brom have a mere one shot on target. 3 got this spot-on, with a further 8 having the outcome.

PORTSMOUTH 0 STOKE CITY 1
An own-goal by Portsmouth defender Hayden Matthews gave Stoke their first away win in over two months to keep them in the Championship play-off places. A magnificent 7 had this spot-on, and another 6 got the outcome.

BLACKBURN ROVERS 2 SOUTHAMPTON 1
Late goals from Andri Gudjohnsen and Ryan Alebiosu gave Blackburn a much-needed first home win of the season as they came from behind to beat Southampton. Only blueeagle and unitedwhites got this spot-on, and only noah4x4 and BFG had the outcome.

SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY 1 OXFORD UNITED 2
Stricken Wednesday were given a reminder of their on-pitch difficulties as Oxford hung on to claim a narrow victory. Well done to ghughes11 for being the only one to have this spot-on, and a further 8 got the outcome.

PETERBOROUGH UNITED 1 BLACKPOOL 2
Substitute Scott Banks scored a dramatic late winner to give struggling Blackpool a first away win of the season, and to give Ian Evatt victory in his first game as Blackpool's new manager. Only Blue4U2 and oxfcolu got this spot-on, and only Madeira163 had the outcome.

READING 1 DONCASTER ROVERS 1
Reading substitute Kamari Doyle scored his first goal for the club to rescue a point for them, after veteran striker Billy Sharp had given Doncaster the lead. 3 had this spot-on, and nobody got the outcome.

WYCOMBE WANDERERS 3 HUDDERSFIELD TOWN 0
A comfortable win for improving Wycombe, against 10-man Huddersfield. Nobody got this spot-on, but 8 did have the outcome.

GILLINGHAM 1 SALFORD CITY 2
First-half goals from Daniel Udoh and Kallum Cesay helped Salford condemn Gillingham to a fifth league game without a win. Well done to BFG for being the only one to have this spot-on, and another 5 got the outcome.

After the three early kick-offs gave us a lightning start to the week, the seven later games failed to follow suit, as the week went downhill afterwards. Those three early Championship fixtures produced wins for Coventry, Ipswich and Stoke, with 16 spot-ons in total, and noah4x4 had them all spot-on, and then had a further four outcomes from the later fixtures, to make him the weeks top scorer with a fantastic 13 points. Five members did well to get two 3 pointers, with the best coming from concordman, who had the 1-0 wins for Ipswich and Stoke, Daniel, who got the Ipswich 1-0 and the Reading 1-1, ghuighrs11, who had the wins for Stoke and Oxford, and unitedwites, who got the Blackburn 2-1 and the Reading 1-1. They each also had two outcomes, to give them all an excellent 8 points. Finally wessex_exile, who got the Coventry 3-1 and the Reading 1-1, and one outcome, to give him a decent 7 points. Best of those to have one outcome was mfb_cufc, who got the Stoke 1-0 and five outcomes, to give him a useful 8 points.
The seasons 94 games have finished with 50 (53.19%) home wins, 28 (29.79%) away wins, and 16 (17.02%) draws. With over half the games ending in a win for the hosts, the season shouldn't have been a tough one overall, but even though the 1-0 has been the top result with 13, the clue is in the fact the second best for a home is the 3-0 and the 3-1 with 8 each. Those figures are astounding, because those two results have only averaged about 10 a season for the last 10 seasons. They are almost at that level with two thirds of the season still to go. The draw usually comes out with 1 in 4 games finishing that way, but that is currently running at 1 in 6, thanks to the 1-1 only on 7 for the season. The best result for an away has been the 1-2, after the 4 this week put on 8 for the season. These anomalies usually even out over a season, it will be interesting to see if it happens this season.

Happy Cup All the details for the 1st Round of this competition are on a separate thread, with the deadline Saturday 1st November 15.00.

In the Premier The lead changes again, as the excellent week for concordman moved him up a couple of places, and back to the summit he last occupied after Week 2. Last weeks leader thrillseeker has to settle for the other Charity Shield spot, desite having the Stoke 1-0 spot-on. After getting the Coventry 3-1 spot-on, Jorash63 moved up a place to third, but only on the first to post rule from Daniel, whose excellent week moved him up two places, to a season high fourth. Just the one outcome for Sector4, means he drops three to fifth. The excellent week for ghughes11 moved him up a place for the fifth week in a row, and into the top half for the first time this season. Three outcomes for bwildered means he drops two places, and back into the bottom half. The bottom five remains the same as last week, but the excellent weeks for unitedwhites and mfb_cufc has made the gap from 1st to 10th only 13 points.

In Division One The amazing run for noah4x4 continued in a big way this week, and his fantastic top scoring performance takes his lead to an incredible 26 points. Without looking, I am sure in my time of administrating nobody in either league has ever had such an advantage before after 13 weeks of the season. If the title is already looking like a forgone conclusion, that could not be said for the rest of the league, as there are only an astonishing 6 points separating 2nd to 10th. After having the Blackpool 2-1 spot-on Blue4U2 moved up a place into the other automatic spot. His highest position since Week 3 last season. Getting that good Salford 2-1 prediction moved BFG up a couple of places to third, as Tropical_Us goes two the other way to fourth. It could have been worse, as he is only ahead of basher2010 on the first to post rule. He is the big mover in this league, as he moved up three places to a season high fifth, after having the Stoke 1-0 spot-on. A solid week for durham_exile, that included getting the Coventry 3-1 spot-on, helped him to remain in the final play-off place. Status quo also for NME_cufc, as he remains seventh, by also having the Coventry 3-1 spot-on. Two outcomes for gerry_us means he drops four places, but still remains only 4 points behind second place. Decent weeks for oxfcolu and wessex_exile moves them both ever closer to the play-offs.

THE TABLES (94 out of 280 played)
(Tie-breaker: Most 3 pointers, and then the first to post)

Week 14 Fixtures FA Cup week and we will keep those fixtures for the Happy Cup, so it is 6 games from the Premier League and Championship.
