Commiserations to Ethan Ross 20:12 - Nov 17 with 603 viewswessex_exile

In goal tonight in Stockport's FA Cup replay against Bolton. 2-0 down after five minutes, and nothing he could do about either - a wicked deflection left him completely stranded, then a freakish incident when a defender cleared a dangerous cross he had covered, only for it to rebound off the standing leg of the defender and back into the net.

Stockport, remarkably, are still in it, just got one back from the penalty spot.

Oh dear, and now a third for Bolton - speculative long ball, Ethan comes charging out, defender heads it back to where he thought Ethan would be, straight over his shoulder, and Bakayoko gratefully takes the easiest tap in of his career.

...and yet the better side at the moment is non-league Stockport, who have just scored again to cut the deficit to 2-3.

Remarkable cup game, packed house, excellent atmosphere, and Stockport get a deserved equaliser for 3-3 with 5 minutes to go.

As a neutral, incredible game - people talk about the magic of the FA Cup, this just had it all! Glad we're not playing Stockport next round, bring on the Latics!

Brilliant game, 10,000 crowd. But Stockport have been getting 5,000 to 7,000 for National League games. I find it inexplicable that we now struggle to see 2,500 at the Jobserve.

Pity referee had to book the Stockport goalscorer in the 121st minute for "excessive celebrations". What was he expecting?

Yet there we are, and Stockport (for example) have always traditionally been better supported than U's, same for Wrexham, same for Chesterfield, same for Notts County (who had nearly 13k at the weekend). Bet they'd all be more than happy to swap numbers if we swapped league positions in the process.

Ross always had a job commanding his area with those in front, which was evident.
Quigley probably earns more money at County and no need to relocate , so dream on.
A contrast with a side who wanted to break with pace and the other who had a direct ball into the front men from the sides, showed what is missing from a quicker pace, rather the to slow and lethargic build up the U’s are now ingrained with, which is only exciting or impressive with a end product.
