Crims XI 14:04 - May 30 with 863 viewsLeadbelly

With Ched Evans being released, unsurprisingly, by Sheffield Utd i started thinking about the numerous footballers who have had their collars felt. Here is a starting XI from those who have.

Goalkeeper - Luke McCormick - death by dangerous driving

Defenders - Peter Storey - running a brothel, amongst other things
Tony Adams - drink driving
Gary Croft - perverting the course of justice
Gary Charles - assault

Midfield - Joey Barton - assault
Jan Molby - reckless driving
George Best - drink driving
Mickey Thomas - couterfeiting

Strikers - Eric Cantona - assault
Duncan ferguson - assault

Manager - Guus Hiddink - tax fraud

Plenty of options for subs if anyones interested.

Peter Swan was also involved in the Layne affair.

But what about Steve Keane to manage them all (drink driving and doing the dirty on Fat Sam).

John Terry......ooops..... (suppose innocent until proven guilty!).

We might add...

Joey Barton - Assault/Affray (and he's just done it again).

Gavin Grant (Bradford) - Murder - eligible for parole in 25 years (e.g. before Kem Izzet's next goal)

Marlon King has been done on eight separate occasions. Peter Storey also has five separate convictions (e.g. add 'car theft' to 'running a brothel').

Vinnie Jones - air rage and assault.

Dennis Wise - assault - convicted - but later over turned on appeal (so John Terry has no doubt hired the same Chelsea lawyer!).

Craig Thomson (Hearts) - "lewd libidinous and indecent behaviour". ..........In Edinburgh......gerrof...surely, we have all been there, done that, worn the T-Shirt after a few pints of 90/- 'Wee Heavy' (6% ABV)?

More seriously, his conviction was for 'holding sexual conversations with underage girls over the Internet'. That's terrible, but what troubles me is that Ched Evans got five years for the 'rape' of a drunken mature woman (fair enough) and Craig Thomson merely a 4k fine and five years on the sex offenders register.

I don't want to start a debate about women who should take more 'responsibility' (and avoid getting blind drunk), nor do I condone what Ched Evans did (except that he probably did think that he had consent - albeit not). But it does seem odd to me that the 'grooming' of underage girls was, by comparison so lieniently treated when the next step could have been truly ghastly.

I think there were loads eventually implicated in the whole affair, if memory serves over 30, and at least 4 did time, sure of it?
