If he was that good I’m sure some club would have signed him, even allowing for the work permit issues. There will be far better options available so let’s move on…assuming the club want to sign a striker (we don’t have one at the moment!)

You won't be disappointed by either country although the price of everything in Iceland is eyewatering.

Canada. Stunning scenery, great people who understand and protect the freedoms they have and so much space.

Second would be Iceland. Not like anywhere else I’ve ever been.

Never stayed in a quiet hotel in a central location so I always take some ear plugs. Sorted.

You won’t be surprised to hear I didn’t have a bag from the ManUre mega store, entry to which required going through what looked like a metal detector as seen at airports.

I was at Old Trafford yesterday (don’t ask!). 72,000+ in attendance, body and bag search for everyone then QR code read at turnstile and not a queue in sight. It couldn’t have been easier, even with what could be described generously as a volatile atmosphere.

I’ve yet to attend the Community Stadium this season so can’t speak from experience but looking at the attendance yesterday it seems that ticketing arrangements, bubbles and the chairman’s singularly cautious approach are going to cost him a lot of money. It doesn’t really matter whether or not it’s easy to buy tickets if the perception for some is that it’s not straightforward. And not scoring goals will also do little to persuade fans to attend either.

I was elsewhere yesterday and am just wondering what access to the ground and arrangements were like? Have read elsewhere that there were long queues to get in which seems bizarre with a relatively low attendance.

The Hundred
at 10:58 13 Aug 2021

Cricket doesn’t need the Hundred IF the ECB considers test cricket the pinnacle of the game. The Hundred simply adds to the congested fixture list and removes county players from other forms of the game. Looking at recent performance levels of the England top three batters in test matches I’d suggest more time playing first class cricket is what’s needed to improve, rather than removing those opportunities.

Top stuff indeed Sir. Keep up the excellent work.

And when was the last time we fielded a starting Xl containing three George’s?

I suspect I'm completely wrong, even if on a technicality, but surely the very first match that Col U ever played would have featured 11 debutants?

Well done all concerned.

The only downside was the time difference which meant I didn't see a single minute of live coverage, which is the first time ever that's happened. But the Olympics Games, or indeed any other sporting event, is not all about meeting the needs of viewers in the UK.

I wish Poku well at Posh but the fact we’ve received a decent fee for a player who produced little of note last season says “good business” to me.

We should build more houses from timber instead of bricks and mortar. I would also advocate having milk delivered from your local dairy. Glass is endlessly recyclable, the bottle tops are recyclable and the delivery vehicle might even be electric…although not yet in the wilds of Mistley.

To borrow wise words from others…

There is no Planet B

When there are no animals, no plants and we’ve destroyed the planet people will realise you can’t eat money

On the beach and in the sea, in the forest, on the mountains, by lakes, rivers and streams, in country parks and hiking routes, animals don’t leave rubbish. Humans do. Don’t behave like humans. Please behave like animals.
