The Farmers are in Town on Tuesday
at 09:06 14 Nov 2019

wonder strike I was reminded of a similar distance goal from Bobby Gough at Layer Road many years ago.

I cannot remember who it was against but he scored from about 40 yards towards the Layer Road end of the ground.

The game you are referring Durham was U's v Blackpool 10/01/81.
A truly icon goal for all those there. No fluke here, a Beckhamesque deliberate shot when the ball sat up for Gough near the halfway line.
What a underrated signing Bobby Gough was, only 7k from struggling Southport. Also scored some thunderbolt free kicks.

FA Cup tickets on sale Monday.
at 06:35 5 Nov 2019

Was passing the ground around Mon 4th 11-30 hrs. So decided to purchase my ticket, the anticipatipted throng was three long .

Still would be easier for STH to be able to purchase and place directly on to holders card .

It was Nov 22nd 2003 . Away thumping defeat at R&D, Craig Fagan sent off early and Rodney Jack gave us the run around .

However just over a year later back at the shoe shop a 5-2 win with a Halford hat-trick and a brace from Fagan set up a resounding victory .

Best wishes to the England Rugby guys, bring the Webb Ellis Trophy back home tomorrow please.

Remember being in the LB limo to somewhere when we last won in 2003, so looked it up.
Most definitely grottiest hostery visited in our travels and a 4-0 away defeat ... Where?

Bulgaria have been fined 75,000 euros / 65k and have to play two games behind closed doors , one suspended for two years has a result of the England match.
Money in the UEFA coffers, and one suspended game is NOT the solution.
Perhaps walk offs is the only way and TV companies start refusing to pay for full game rights is the only way.

Six points essential from next two games
at 09:09 27 Oct 2019

Good victory for the U's after going a goal down early . Impressive performances must go to the engine room, with Pell and Lapsie unavailable, Stevenson and Comley have stepped up to the plate in the centre of the park . Comley has become very dependable when he gets a run in the side and Stevenson today showed us a performance from his initial loan days .
Good to see Senior score near the end, his distribution still wayward, but was constantly manhandled by a county side with not enough protection from the officials .
Game showed the strength in depth the squad with both Gambin and Brown getting on .

Match of the Week.
at 09:55 26 Oct 2019

Not sure that the Millwall game was televised on MOTW Durham, but received great media attention at the time, many off field scuffles !!

Earliest memories from MOTW was that Hull City were a regular televised club before the county boundaries changed, and was on after Farming Diary .

Highlights from the Big Match after the main game, usually showed WHU always scoring in the last minutes throw Pop Robson or Sir Geoff .

Chic Brodie, after a long rehab time , never really recovered from his injury and was forced out the game.

U's feature on the TV snippet on BBC regards Jeff Astle and the connection between dementia / football career.
For those without black and white the U's are not in the stripes !!
Black and white clip shows Bobby Cram beaten to the cross which Jeff Astle headers onto the upright, leaving goalie Graham Smith floundering . Close up of Jeff Astle then shows Eric Burgess (with large sideburns )in the foreground.
One thing to note the old club / borough badge .

How much can we trust the FA ?
Greg Clarke, did sweet FA in Bulgaria and let England play on when all the UEFA protocol was in place, to walk off and stay off, irregardless of the score/result.
