Ron Vlaar Linked Again

He didn't look too solid when the Saints ran rings around him and is pals to put six past Villa a few weeks ago. You might suspect that could be the reason they have let him go.

Saints And Spurs Lead Queue To Sign Bournemouth Striker
at 10:20:11

Wilson has scored lots of goals for the Cherries in the championship and has been a key player for them, however, if the Saints were to sign a Bournemouth AFC player over the summer I would hope it would be Yann Kermogant I think he has been terrific for them, and could be the playmaker that we have lacked at times this season. Perhaps would be a replacement for Morgan should his long forecast exit become a reality.

Saints Now Have The Firepower Available Lets Use It !
at 23:54:25

Pelle will start scoring again when he is able to get into the box rather than being employed to hold the ball up for others which is what he has had to do lately. Unfortunately it's a part of his game that needs more work. But I agree that with Long fit it will release Pelle a bit more to do what he is best at, score goals. Ryan Bertrand coming back will also help as he is able and confident enough to get much further forward than young Targett. The Baggies should not be underestimated though

Saints V Liverpool The Verdict
at 19:14:16

On the point of abusing the opposition, it was interesting that while the Saints support was singing abuse at Lovren before the kick off, Mignolet went to Lovren and gave him a pat on the back and to Lallana and to each of the outfield players. The abuse was used as a positive and served to build a bit of team spirit.

WELL! WELL! WELL!
at 16:20:50

I don't think anybody is celebrating a loss at Liverhampton Truthful. But we did show signs of a different approach and a plan B which I think bodes well for the future.

I enjoyed possession football as well when it worked, the problem is that the Argie didn't seem to learn when it didn't and had no plan to recover the situation. Rogers up at Liverhampton learnt from our win at Anfield and adopted the same strategy. The difference was that when it didn't work for them, they changed the system. They finished 6 places above us!!

The point is that was last season, its gone. Let it go. The king is dead, long live the King.

It was good when it worked. Now we need to move on and set about the business of supporting the Saints instead of dwelling on what might have been.

Wanyama Shades Tadic For Ugly Inside Man Of The Match At Anfield

Best aspect of Wanyama's game, he didn't give the ball away easily, which has been his downfall in the past. Solid performance and deserved MOTM.

The melt down hasn't started yet...... No sign of the club going under the hammer...... and you are spot on about the frustration of possession football with no end product.

As for Chambers, he was part of the England set up.... like most of the rest that have left us this summer.... Not that I want to cast aspersions you understand.... but you can't have 30% of your England team coming from little old Southampton...... they haven't got enough fans to buy all the newspapers, probably not even able to read em even if they had money to buy em!!!! Not only that it's down south and no where near London..

Good luck to all that have left us for fatter pay packets, I for one enjoyed the match at Liverhampton, and to be honest I don't think we missed them that much. Shame about the result, but i'm not about to start supporting a different team any time soon.

Southampton till I die

Saints At Liverpool The Verdict
at 12:20:19

Agree defence needs to be much more dependable, but both CB's gave 100%. Wanyama had his best game in a Saints shirt so far, lots of promise from Pelle and Tadic is a class act that will only get better as the players around him start to read him. It was nice to see Schniederlin have a couple of good efforts on goal and seemed to be getting a bit further forward more often, but he did seem to be a bit below par.

In general, the reaction of the players to going a goal down was excellent and we seemed more likely to equalise than concede another.

The result was a shame because we deserved a bit more from the game, but Ronald the K seems to be much more than a one-trick pony so the future looks bright.

Do Saints Now Have A Stronger Squad ?
at 14:05:32

When you look at the games we lost in the last 20 minutes last season, MP was a bit 1 dimensional, and for all the possession we had the goals from chances made ratio was very poor.

Not sure if we are stronger, a lot has changed and everyone else has written us off. No one expected a 1-0 win at Anfield last season. We could be the suprise package again.

But hey I'm a Saints supporter, of course we are going to win the Premier League, and if we don't I will still be a Saints supporter.

Southampton FC The Aptitude Test Quiz
at 11:58:56

Just what I love about being a Saint's supporter, the never failing ability to find something to take the hiss out of. I grinned all the way through it!!

Perhaps some of our extremely loyal ex-players enjoy the same while their asses are becoming flat on the benches of the bigger clubs that have now become the object of so much loyalty.

Still, nice to be back in red and white.
